The Korean Madonna

Uhm Jung-hwa has been labeled Korea's Madonna. Now why would the sexy 36 year-old actress / singer be compared to one of the most well known entertainers of our time? Let's take a closer look.

Queen of controversy

Just like Madonna, Uhm has been the cause of controversy. In 2006 she caused a stir when she appeared in her performances dressed in an ultra-sexy getup and dancing to the suggestive “Come to me” in her album Prestige.



Publish a book

Just recently, Uhm published a book documenting her travels in New York. The book is called New York Diary 38 Days 107 Entries (엄정화의 뉴욕일기 38일 107기뉴욕). Incidently, Madonna has published a total of five children’s books and various other works.



Veteran in showbiz

Both Madonna and Uhm have been in the showbiz industry for more than 15 years. Uhm started out in showbiz in November 1989 where she joined the MBC Choir.


Versatile

Uhm is a versatile artist and transforms herself like a chameleon, reinventing herself constantly.
