April Snow (2005)

Korean title: 외출 (Wi-chool)

W
hat’s popping:

A flick with an interesting premise but a little too slow for my taste. There were so many still and quiet moments that I could zip off for a toilet break, cook instant noodles, make a five-minute phone call and not miss a thing.

However, I have to say that the lead Bae Yong-joon (배용준) is pretty impressive here, deftly portraying the varied emotions of a man who is betrayed, and torn between passion and a sense of duty.

The plot:

A slow burning tearjerker wannabe where a couple unintentionally exposes their clandestine affair after being in a near-fatal car accident. Their respective spouses played by Bae Yong-joon and Son Ye-jin (손예진) find comfort in each other’s arms…and bed.

Sweet revenge? Love on the rebound? Lust or genuine love? The filmmaker leaves it all up to you to decide.

Watch it:

You’ll have to get the DVD.

I just watched this yesterday!

Yeah, i agree with Liz, the movie is rather slow moving. There's not much dialog between both leads. But these two seem to be able to pull it off.

My favourite part: When Bae Yong-joon's character's father made an impromptu visit and Ye-jin had to hide herself in the bathroom. Yong-joon went back to her and she just stood there, and said "It's ok."

But we missed the part when they were in the cinema. Check out the movie stills on Hancinema!

It's not a bad movie - in an arty sort of way.
