TVXQ members sue SM Entertainment

Yeah boys, go ahead and bite the hand that feeds you…especially when it’s feeding you leftover scraps when you can have a banquet.

Three members of the highly popular Korean boyband TVXQ/ DBSK have filed a lawsuit against their agency SM Entertainment on July 31. The application seeks to terminate all exclusive rights SM Entertainment has over them.

Trouble: The TVXQ boys are overworked and underpaid

The three members are Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun and Hero Jaejoong. The other two members U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin did not file a lawsuit as they are busy preparing for their debut dramas.

SM Entertainment head honcho Lee Soo-man, who was in the US, has reportedly flown back to South Korea after hearing the news.

Triple Trouble: (l-r) Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun and Hero Jaejoong
are standing up for their rights...in court

Will this spell the end of TVXQ? Will the quintet disband and go their separate ways or find a new agency that is fairer to them?

Hmmmm. I wonder what the suit is based on. Question to consider: If you were, say YG, and you see these guys sue SM, would you hire them if they win?

i don't give a damn if the boys wanna sue SM! they have their right to stand up for themselves... all the fans know how they work til no tomorrow & SM get the biggest part...

pray hard for them... wishing my biggest obsession, DBSK, all the best!!!

seriously i was so shocked when I read this. i knew they overworked but i never expected this to happen. They are doing the right thing to fight for themselves. And I really hope they will stay together as five. Dong Bang Shin Ki is the one that made me get so into KPOP. We cant deny that they really played an important part in spreading the hallyu not only in Msia, but all over the world. I will support DBSK forever no matter what.

Oh man, you're talking to one of DBSK's biggest fans outside Korea right here! I'm gonna start crying :(

However, these reports are not confirmed, and is very very unlikely that the three concerned members will leave. I think there would be a national outcry! SM Entertainent cannot afford to let go of their most successful group. They would be boycotted by fans and would fail.

Even if there was a messy lawsuit with SM, and the members quit from the company, it would be highly likely that they would be signed onto another company such as JYP. I doubt SM would dare get in the way of the guys, upset the fans, or give up their most successful band.

So don't worry! Let's pray that they'll stay together for all the Cassiopeias! DBSK HWAITING! <333

If SM has been mistreating and not giving them the earnings they so rightly deserve, then i am glad the guys are suing SM. They've really worked hard.

But this is quite shocking news and we will have to see if TVXQ will remain as a group or if this will break them up.

I don't think Mr SM will let them leave... If he does, he really is the dumbest person who ever lived in the entire universe!!

So, I'm really sure they wouldn't break up cuz Mr LSM wouldn't wanna lose his major 'atm machine'...

I hope he isn't THAT dumb to let them go... *swts*

Background from allkpop.com:

“TVXQ has had a 13 year (according to some) “slave contract,” with SM Entertainment. And TVXQ members have only received a 0.5% increase in salary over the past 5 years despite their amazing success and huge fanbase. All 5 members are actually preparing to sue SM Entertainment because of this, not just Junsu, Yoochun, and Jaejoong. Junsu’s dad had been the representative of the 5 members and was at the head of the preparations to sue SM Entertainment. But SM entertainment found out about the pending lawsuit and proceeded to “bully around” Junsu. Yunho and Changmin aren’t sueing SM at the moment, but neither are they resigning with SM at the end of their contract. Contrary to rumors, there has been no conflict within TVXQ members, and the whole issue is been between the members and SM Entertainment. SM has been taking from 70%-90% of the profits that TVXQ makes, leaving only 10%-30% for the members themselves.”

i wonder why SM didn't learn from the HOT & Shinhwa's issues before! both gruop did the same thing to SM yet SM still freaking stubborn do the same thing to other group!

i doubt this issue would end with DBSK disbanding..like commented above..DBSK's like SM's no money making machine..it'd be business-ly idiotic to not resolve the matter in a win win solution...

anywayz..i'm glad that finally someone's spoken up..since we've been hearing so much of wind and riff abt this undertreatment matter and all..but on the other hand i really don't want DBSK to disband or anything..5 as 1.. none without 5...
