Hwanhee, formerly of Fly To The Sky (FTTS), was in Tokyo on April 27 for a fan meeting. The talent said that he wants to compete in the Japanese market.
Watch out: 'Here I come, Japan!'
His fan meeting named H SOUL Hajimari marks the 28 year old’s eagerness to cross over to the Japanese market. H SOUL is the title of the South Korean singer’s first solo album.
It’s good to see the talent out and about again. At the end of 2009, Hwanhee had to quickly end promotional activities for his single Bring It Backbecause of health problems. Now that he’s healthy again, let’s hope we get to hear more of him :-).
Brian Joo (formerly of Fly to the Sky), Kim Hyung-joon (SS501), Shindong (Super Junior) and Jo Kwon (2AM) will topline an environment programme entitled Find it! Green Gold.
Green guys: (l-r) Kim Hyung-joon, Shindong, Brian Joo and Jo Kwon
The SBS programme sees the celebs riding their environmental-friendly bikes in search of places with environmental problems. They will then offer their solutions for them.
Poses: 'Alright, go ahead and pick the cheesy pose you like.'
Hwaiting!: 'The guys wish for great ratings for their show.'
Find it! Green Gold will air (in South Korea) on Sept 14 at 6:25pm. The stars of the show held a press conference in Seoul recently and below are pics from the photoshoot.
Kim Hyung-joon is lookin’ mighty fine ;-).
'Other guys turn green when they stand next to me.'
'Yeah, I can't spin around anymore, I'm starting to see green spots.'
'I see that green light blinking on the camera, is it on?'
Awesome duo, Fly to the Sky released their 8th album entitled Decennium (i guess it alludes to the duo being together for 10 years!) last month.
Brian and Hwanhee are now busy promoting their newly launched album and have been appearing on many Korean programs (television & radio), namely Lee Hana's Peppermint (6 March), Music Core, Love Request, Yashimmanman (9 March) and of course Mnet Countdown.
Brian (left) and Hwanhee on Yashimmanman
Hwanhee mentioned on Lee Hana's Peppermint that this will be their last album as Fly to the Sky. Brian will be moving on to an acting career, while Hwanhee will focus on his solo singing career (I actually thought it would be the other way around since Hwanhee has been appearing in dramas).
This sounds like an official split for FTTS. I was quite sad to hear this because i really really like this R&B duo. Brian's crisp clear vocals compliments Hwanhee's deep husky voice perfectly. Where else can you find such a match! It's such a joy listening to them that i am sad it has come to an end. When i mentioned this to Liz (who's also a fan of FTTS), she said "Ten years! That's enough-lah."
Okay guys, we wish you all the best in your respective solo careers! It wouldn't hurt if you come back together to perform a few of your old songs though -- once in awhile -- just to make us happy.
FTTS performing on Mnet Countdown
Here's Fly to the Sky's performance on Mnet Countdown, 12 March. They grabbed the number one spot with their new song Goosuk (구속) - from their new album, Decennium.
They were “man and wife” on the TV show We Got Married. Now that that’s over, it doesn’t mean they've quit doing nice things for each other…especially on Valentine’s Day.
Hwanhee, one-half of R&B duo Fly to the Sky ditched his own comeback performance halfway (getting his partner Brian Joo to hold down the fort for him) and popped into Hwayobi’s concert for a surprise duet of Endless Love.
Flowers: 'Here, these flowers are for you.'
Whoopsie: 'Seriously Hwanhee, I thought you knew I liked red roses, not these whatchamacallit.'
Smiling thru the pain: Hwanhee stands and takes it as Hwayobi gives him a shelling for getting the wrong flowers
Whack: Knowing she can't stay mad for long at that surgically-enhanced gorgeous mug, Hwayobi playfully smacks her "ex-hubby" (Oooh, let me at him! :-P)
The “Dog Poop” (Gaettongi) couple serenaded each other with the saccharine sweet love song to the excitement of all Hwanyobi fans.
Awww, aren’t they cute together? Check out the fancam of their performance below:
Barring any glitches, R&B duo Fly to the Sky(FTTS) will be dropping their 8th album in February. It will be called Decenium.
FTTS: Their latest - and 8th - album will be unleashed in Feb 2009
One-half of the pair Brian Joo left a message to his fans at the FTTS Eternity Forum recently. In it, the 28-year-old revealed that they have completed recording the album and are currently working on the final touches to the tracks.
“The album should most likely be out mid-February or even earlier. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that this one really tops the charts,” Brian wrote.
Going strong: Hwanhee (left) and Brian have been in showbiz for 10 years
Fly to the Sky celebrated a decade in the music industry on Jan 10. Their latest album entitled Decenium alludes to their 10 years in showbiz :-).
Birthday boys: Brian Joo (left) and Hwanhee blow out the candles on their anniversary/ birthday cake
Whoa, they’ve been in the entertainment industry for 10 years already? They are early bloomers, I tell ya. On Jan 10, Fly to the Sky duo Brian Joo and Hwanhee celebrated their 10th anniversary. They debuted in 1999.
The pair held a party-cum-fan meeting at the Grand Hilton Seoul Hotel at 6.30pm. In addition to that, the pair also celebrated their birthdays with their fans! Brian turned 28 on Jan 10 while Hwanhee will turn 27 on Jan 17.
A decade together: 'Yes, yes, we still love and respect each other after all these years....'
Cake cutting:'...but that doesn't mean I can't sever the head on that Mini-Me doll of yours, Brian! Bwah ha ha ha ha.'
During the party, the pair announced that they were in the midst of completing their 8th album. The long player is set to hit stores at the end of Jan.
I’ve always enjoyed Hwanhee’s strong vocals and needless to say, my fav song off the Recollection album is his solo rendition of 소원 (what does that mean in English? Babelfish tells me it’s “Estranged”. Also, where can I find an English translation of the lyrics? It’s such a beautiful track.)
Fly to the Sky’s 8th album is definitely worth a listen when it is released. All the best guys! And oh, Happy Birthday!
Q&A session: 'And this is from Liz K-popped of Malaysia. She asks: Hwanhee, can you please give me the name and number of your plastic surgeon?'
Touched: An overwhelmed fan gets a moment with Hwanhee
Fan service 1: The boys hold a (mild) naughty party...yeah, like JYP or Seung-ri ;-)
Fan service 2: Oh c'mon guys, this is still so G-rated

Caught on camera: Smile, Hwanhee...you're being photographed
When I look at Hwanhee...I am amazed at the work of his plastic surgeon. With a scalpel, the surgeon has deftly turned the Fly to the Sky member into a walking, breathing work of art. In other words, he's so hawt.
These pictures were taken by a fan at an airport. Not sure which airport Hwanhee was at, but he was apparently alone at the time. The other half of the duo - Brian Joo - was nowhere to be seen.
Cutie-pie: Hwanhee poses for the camera
Wasn't Hwanhee's reaction to the camera cute? After realising that he was being photographed, the 26-year-old smiled and made cute faces for the camera.
I heard that it was an absolute success. Concert goers who went had a blast! You can read all about it in the forums. Everyone had such a good time that i wished i was in LA that weekend so i could attend the concert.
It was a truly Hallyu star-studded event hosted by Brian Joo (FTTS) and Ock Ju Hyun, artists such as Fly to the Sky, Dong Bang Shin Ki (TVXQ), SG Wannabe, Super Junior T, Girls' Generation (SNSD), Lee Minwoo, Chae Yeon and others (others meaning, i read the names, but they seem foreign to me) shared the stage.
Where : Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood, CA When : Saturday, May 17, 2007 Time : 6:30 - 11pm
Oh what a night! Were you there? Did you have a good time?
Brian Joo and Ock Ju Hyun were hosts for the evening
DBSK's Xiah Junsu opens the show by singing the Korean national anthem backed by a black choir. Now how did that go? Chae Yeon and her dancers hit the stage
Juicy gossip that popped out after the eventful night is...whether DBSK's Xiah Junsu and Girls Generation's leader Tae Yeon are an item. Both Xiah and Tae Yeon couldn't keep their hands off each other - even on stage! At the end of a performance, Xiah gently reaches out to touch Tae Yeon's hands. The pair have also been spotted in a mall together. Do you think they make a good couple? Are they dating or just good friends?
Xiah reaches out to Tae Yeon on stage. Could they be more than friends?
Lucky fans in America will be able to watch Fly to the Sky perform live. The pair will be performing in Los Angeles on July 25 and San Francisco on July 27.
The boys will serenade fans at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA and the Chabot College Performing Arts Center in SF.
But before Brian Joo and Hwanhee head West, they are scheduled to tour Korea and Japan in early and mid-July respectively.
For fans interested to attend the San Francisco show, you can purchase tickets online at ONEGEN Productions.
