SS501 Concert in Thailand

he absolutely LOVES Malaysian girls...

I write this entry with a heavy heart. Malaysians were so close to watching SS501 live in concert last December, but it didn't materialize. By now, we are not surprised anymore. Our friends in Thailand just have all the luck.

Korean boyband SS501 performed in Thailand on 13 February. The boys were on their Asian tour PERSONA which took them to six asian countries with concerts in Seoul, Japan, Taiwan, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Thailand. SS501 performed at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

SS501 will conclude their PERSONA tour in Seoul with concerts at Seoul Gymnastics stadium on 27 and 28 February, 2010.

Kim Hyun Joong's Tony Moly photo shoot

Ahhh....are we ready?

After his recent bout of flu, SS501 band leader Kim Hyun Joong is back looking extremely healthy and handsome in the new Tony Moly photo shoot.

The KBS2 TV Boys Over Flowers actor shot a CF for the cosmetics brand Tony Moly, appearing with a beautiful model. The shoot begn early in the morning and dragged on till late at night. Despite the long hours, Kim was in good spirits through-out the shoot.

SS501 will be performing at Taipei, Taiwan's Super Arena for their Asia concert tour. They will also release a mini album called "REBIRTH".

Kim Hyun Joong recovers from A(H1N1)

SS501 boy band leader Kim Hyun Joong who was down with the A(H1N1) influenza received treatment for 15 days in Japan. He has been discharged and returned to Seoul Gimpo Airport in 16 Sept.

On September 5 - 6, Kim was in Japan for the KBS 2TV drama Boys Over Flowers promotion when he developed flu symptoms and sudden high fever. On September 7, it was confirmed that Kim Hyun Joong had contracted the A(H1N1) flu. Kim Hyun Joong's mother flew to Japan to be with her son and after treatment of Tamiflu he recovered after two weeks.

Glad to know he's all better now and has returned to South Korea.

Four popular singers are all set to go green!

Brian Joo (formerly of Fly to the Sky), Kim Hyung-joon (SS501), Shindong (Super Junior) and Jo Kwon (2AM) will topline an environment programme entitled Find it! Green Gold.

The SBS programme sees the celebs riding their environmental-friendly bikes in search of places with environmental problems. They will then offer their solutions for them.

Find it! Green Gold will air (in South Korea) on Sept 14 at 6:25pm. The stars of the show held a press conference in Seoul recently and below are pics from the photoshoot.

SS501 meet their fans in Malaysia

Korean boy band SS501 were in Kota Kinabalu (KK), East Malaysia for 4 days, 3 nights. They were at Gayana Resort in KK, filming a special DVD for fans. As an additional gift to their Malaysian fans, they decided to stop by Kuala Lumpur (West Malaysia) to have a meet-the-fans session!

The fan meet was a huge surprise and it was only a few days before the event that we received news of it. But nevertheless, hoardes of delighted fans turned up to support the event! At last, Korean celebrities decide to come to our shores, instead of going to Singapore or Thailand!

And as a special gift, Triple-S prepared a Baju Melayu
(Malay traditional attire) for each of the boys, gift wrapped nicely in a box.

So on 3rd September 2009 - everyone was excited! Although the fan meeting was at 6pm, fans started arriving early and by 2pm, there was a long queue at One World Hotel. Your ticket to the fan meeting? You had to purchase a SS501 CD which is on sale at the event. At around 4pm, CD sales started and each CD cost a whopping RM70! Never mind the hefty price, the CDs sold like hot cakes and before you knew it, they were all sold out.

Two CDs were on sale (by Warner Music i presume):

• SS501 Solo Collection
• SS501 Taiwan SuperHits

Those who purchased the CDs could go in to meet their idols. But each fan is only allowed to get one autograph (from only one of the boys). I thought of attending the event after work, but then i am glad i didn't go, after reading the fan accounts. Getting to the venue after work would mean i would have gotten there rather late, and all CDs would have been sold out!

Many were disappointed when the CDs were sold out. That means, they didn't get to go into the fan meeting area. Also, some who bought the CD and managed to get it, complained that they didn't even get to see the boys. I guess there were just too many excited fans waiting to meet their idols.

SS501, please come again!

SS501 fan meeting in Kuala Lumpur on September 3rd, 2009

Selamat pagi!

Local newspaper Sin Chew has reported that SS501 will be in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia for a fan signing event this Thursday, September 3rd, 2009.

SS501 arrived at KLIA this morning and are off to Kota Kinabalu. The boys will be in East Malaysia for a couple of days working on a photoshoot and will return to Kuala Lumpur to attend the event.


According to Sin Chew's article, SS501 requested to have a fan meeting in Kuala Lumpur for their Malaysian fans upon hearing that they would be stopping in Kuala Lumpur on transit before returning to Korea. Product Manager Mr. Gong of Warner Music Malaysia expressed that it is very likely fans of SS501 will be able to meet the boys on September 3rd.

Details about the event venue and time have not yet been released as the news about their arrival came shortly before the country's Merdeka Day celebrations. Proper permits for the event could not be issued until government offices resumed work after the public holiday.

It appears that arrangements are underway to hold a public event for SS501. If all preparations run smoothly, confirmation about the event will be released as soon as possible.

SS501 Persona Concert in Seoul

Leader of the group Kim Hyun Joong (& a hot babe) in concert

SS501 kicked off their 1st Asia Tour Concert in Seoul, Persona on 01 August. They performed at Seoul's Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium. This is their first concert in four years!

Kim Hyun Joong's Boys Before Flowers co-stars Goo Hye Sun, Lee Min Ho and Kim Bum attended the concert to show their support! Kim Joon wasn't present because he is currently performing in his musical theatre debut, Youth March). It looks like the F4 and Gu have become fast friends! The three of them - Kim Bum, Min Ho and Hye Sun sat side by side at the concert and chatted and had fun at the concert.

SS501 appointed Airport Ambassadors

I don't know if there's such a title as "Airport Ambassadors" - i cooked it up.

Anyway, SS501 were appointed goodwill ambassador by the Korea Airport Corporation (KAC) on July 13. They were at Gimpo Airport in Seoul to receive the appointment.

I am not exactly sure what a goodwill ambassador awarded by the KAC would mean, but Koreans sure love giving out the goodwill ambassador title.

Congratulations to Kim Hyun Joong (leader), Kim Gyu Jong, Park Jeong Min, Heo Young Saeng and Kim Hyung Joon on the new appointment.

The show was aired on the SBS network in South Korea (which means we Malaysians won’t get to watch it on the telly) on June 20 at 12.20am.

The winner of the competition was contestant No.1 – Nishi-Kawaguchi Aya (Japan).


Second place went to contestant No. 27 – Kim Rana (South Korea).


Meanwhile the 3rd place went to contestant No. 17 – Ratanapon Bonin (Thailand).
