Lee Min Ho joins Haptic Mission Season 2

Hmm...is Min-ho recruited as a teacher or an advertising exec?

Anycall Haptic Mission is an advertising campaign that brings together Son Dambi and Boys Before Flowers actors Kim Bum, Kim Hyun-joong and Kim Joon. Haptic Mission adopts the concept of reality tv where the celebrities become employees of Anycall Corporation.

In season 2, Lee Min-ho will be joining the mission while Kim Bum leaves to be with LG. The start of season two will be on May 27. It has been said that season 1 was a huge success - although i got a bit bored watching the videos. I bet in season 2 things will start to really get exciting with the arrival of Lee Min-ho as an employee at Anycall Corp. (but of couse i'm saying this because i'm biased). And the person whom i think could rival Min-ho as best employee with his panache and confidence has left the ad campaign. You all know who i'm talking about. ;-)

Min-ho joins Anycall Corp...and suddenly Orchid is interested in the Haptic Mission

In the drama Boys Before Flowers, Lee Min-ho's character (and also the rest of the main cast actually) uses the Anycall mobile phone model SCH-W750. Since the launch of the product, 250, 000 units of the mobile phone has been sold.

Samsung is very pleased with this and is confident that the charming Min-ho will be a good representative to express their stylish brand. Thus, Samsung Electronics is looking forward to Min-ho's participation in the series of ads that will make up Haptic Mission season 2.

Marketing gimmic? Easy, as long as I use this phone, the people will buy.

Will this be our new office? Anycall Corp?

In season one, Kim Bum, Kim Hyun-joong, Kim Joon and Son Dambi receive documents telling them that they have been selected to become employees in the Advertising department at Anycall Corp. Their stint at the company would last for eight weeks.

They each vow to work hard and determine in their hearts to be the best employee. To select the best employee, they each have to go through an interview. There are no English subtitles available for the interviews, but there's one Westerner in the panel and he asks the questions in English. I find this the most amusing and it looks like Kim Hyun-joong's command of the English language is the worse among them all. He even interpreted the question wrongly. Hyun-joong is also fluent in Japanese but he was really nervous when he found out that they will be asked questions in English.

Boys Before Flowers couple #2 So Yi Jung and Chu Ga Eul (fondly known as SoEul) is so much loved by viewers that the powers that be in advertising brought them together again.

Kim Bum and Kim So Eun reprises their roles as the SoEul couple in the Samsung Anycall Bodyguard MV CF (music video commercial feature). No more under the shadow of the Junpyo-Jandi-Jihoo romance, it's a whole 5-minutes of pure SoEul. Boy band SHINee provides the backing song.

Boys Before Flowers Anycall Haptic Pop CF

The Flower Four promotes Anycall Haptic Pop
mobile phone. But where's Lee Min-ho?

The F4 boys minus Lee Min-ho, appear in the new Anycall Haptic Pop (햅틱팝) CF. Kim Bum, Kim Hyun-joong and Kim Joon are promoting the Haptic Pop SCH-W750, Samsung Electronic's touch screen phone.

The CF was released to the public on 4th March with the theme "Index Finger Life" -- notice that the boys work on everything with their index finger. With only your index finger, you can do almost anything on the new Anycall Haptic Pop touch screen mobile phone!

The F4 boys show that you can paint, play the piano,
balance your phone & dial with your index finger!

The advertisement industry is a buzz with talk that Samsung Electronics and LG Telecommunication, giants and rivals in the telecommunication business in South Korea are vying for the F4 to promote their products. Both Samsung and LG contacted the Flower Four (F4) to ink a contract with them.

Apparently Lee Min-ho had complications with his contract with LG and could not appear in this Samsung ad. So there, there's why you have the F4 without their leader.

THE HAPTIC SAGA: DBSK and SNSD get all tangled up

Dong Bang Shin Ki Cassiopeias and So Nyuh Shi Dae (소녀시대) fans (do they have a name?) are frantically talking about the new hot couple "TaeSu" (that's DBSK's Xiah Junsu and SNSD's Tae Yeon). Speculations, sightings and rumours are rampant! Now how did DBSK and SNSD get so close? Is it only "TaeSu" or are more of both the group members entangled in new relationships?

It all started when both these groups from SM Entertainment got together to film Samsung Anycall's new four-part touch-screen phone advertisement. We shall call it THE HAPTIC SAGA here. DBSK and SNSD must have spent a lot of time together during the filming and have gotten close. Each DBSK guy was paired up with a SNSD girl in the videos. There were several scenes of them making out - or at least trying to anyway. Ironically, the only one who wasn't clearly paired up on-screen, is supposedly having a lot of action now, off-screen. No points for guessing who that is.


Did SM Entertainment know what they were getting themselves into bringing these two groups together? This is one way to get the lesser known SNSD (Girls' Generation) group into the limelight.

Let's check out The Haptic Saga, blow by blow.

Episode 1: Let's HAPTIC
DBSK - Max, U-know, Micky and Hero frolick with Jessica, Yoona and Tiffany in an elevator. They get all excited over...what else...the Samsung Anycall Haptic phone. A very blonde Xiah attempts to step into the elevator and sees all this.

Episode 2: HAPTIC Battle
While playing pool, Hero and U-know battles for Tiffany's attention. U-know does a little dance and tries to kiss Tiffany. Xiah walks in at the end again and discovers the cool Samsung HAPTIC touch-screen phone.

Episode 3: HAPTIC Scandal
U-know and Tiffany are at the amusement park. Micky tries to kiss Yoona now (sheesh, too much making out i say! ;-). Max shows Jessica his very cool HAPTIC.

Episode 4: HAPTIC Game
At the airport, DBSK boys and SNDS girls play a game on the elevator where they have to go "If you haptic, then you can shake, push lean" coupled with a little dance. Who reaches the end while doing that looses and carries all the luggage.

Boy after all that on-screen making out, wiggling, giggling, jiggling and what-nots, it's not a surprise that both groups have become itchy closer. BTW...did anyone notice Samsung Anycall's super-cool new phone in those ads? ;-)

Rain composed Any Dream song

Really? Man, my one main gripe about Samsung Anycall’s Beijing Olympics theme song was that it wasn’t memorable…there’s no hook to the track. And today, I learned that the Energizer Bunny is the person who composed the song!

Nice try, Rain…but no dice.

Songwriter Rain: 'What? You don't like my song? Well, stuff it.'

On March 26, J-Tune Entertainment revealed that Rain (real name Jeong Ji-hoon) wrote, composed and produced Any Dream, which is about bulldozing through challenges to fulfill one’s dream.

Twist 'n Turn: 'And after that triple back flip, you lift your right
leg up like so.'

Apart from composing the track, Rain also choreographed the dance in the music video.

It is also revealed that Rain’s creative juices started flowing while he was in Los Angeles for post-production work on Speed Racer. The 26-year-old collaborated with Lee Hyun-do to compose Any Dream.

Why does Lee Hyun-do sound familiar? Well, he’s the Korean producer who will be working with Bi on a cover of Kung Fu Fighting, the disco smash hit for the OST of Dreamworks’ animated flick Kung Fu Panda.

Rain vs. B-Boys in latest Samsung Anycall CF

The Energizer Bunny and his gang launch into a dance battle with a team of B-Boys who kick their @s$e$...but wait, we're talking about Rain here. Things wouldn't be complete if he doesn't bounce back - better than before.

That's the premise of Rain's brand new Samsung Anycall music video, which is about working hard to achieve one's dream -- Any Dream. The MV will be edited into a 15-second commercial clip to be aired in conjunction with the 2008 Beijing Olympics!

Rain sings in Mandarin and speaks, like, one line in Mandarin.

Currently, there are two versions of the MV at YouTube - the full version (8:26) and short version (4:24). As a Rain fan, I found the full version a little too long and boring, the song's so-so and isn't memorable.



The fun bits, which are available in the short version as well (above), is when the defeated Rain forms a new dance group...and the people who sign up are dancers wannabe from various backgrounds - a chef & a wage earner - to name a few.

However, under the tutelage of Rain and the talent of the only girl in the group, who also happens to be a gymnast, the motley crew may have a fighting chance at winning the upcoming dance-off. Whoo-hoo.

The Samsung phone plays a vital part in the formation of the group as the Energizer Bunny uses it to capture pictures of his dance members, use it show his team new dance moves as well as to play music from the phone.

Bah, words, words, words...please watch the video, which is directed by Jang Jae-hyuk (helmer of It's Raining MV), and tell me what you think of it?

The edited 15-second clip will go on air nationwide in China and Hong Kong in April. Once Bi wraps up Ninja Assassin (which we think is Ninja Scroll, hee hee), he will visit China in mid-August to take part in Olympic-related events.

What are the Energizer Bunny’s responsibilities as image ambassador? Rain will sing the Samsung Anycall Olympic theme song and appear in the music video (MV) as well.

Samsung has also introduced the “Rain Phone”. Although there has been countless celebrities promoting Samsung Anycall phones in the past, this is the first time Samsung has named a phone after an artist. What an honour for Bi.

Samsung hopes to increase sales of this phone, especially during the Olympic season. Samsung’s philosophy – “never stop dreaming, never give up, keep pursuing your dreams ‘till they come true” can be reflected in Rain’s own pursuit of his dreams. This is why he has been chosen to represent the mega company at one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events.

Rain and Samsung Anycall team up

While Bi isn’t singing the official Olympic anthem for the upcoming 2008 Olympics in Beijing, the Energizer Bunny will be doing something related to the big event.

Hmm, Bi, be careful whose payroll you're on

Jung Ji-hoon has inked a one-year commercial deal with Samsung Anycall where he will be singing an Olympic-themed song (not to be mistaken for the official Olympic anthem) for the commercial.

Samsung is apparently one of the official sponsors for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Discussions are underway to film the commercial in Beijing (whoa, Rooster, maybe you can gate crash the shoot? :-P) and the advertisement will be aired near the Olympic season.

In related news, Samsung is in pretty deep sh*t now as investigators have raided Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee’s private office in Seoul yesterday (Jan 14). Investigations into the group’s alleged slush fund creation, mass bribery and other illegalities are ongoing.

Xiah's the fashionista in Anyband

Currently, I seem to be having a fixation on Anyband (애니밴드). I've seen videos of the Anycall Anyband concert on 27 November and noticed that Xiah Junsoo (시아준수) changed his outfit THREE times during the concert. Tablo wore two different outfits, but BoA only wore her frilly dress throughout!

I think Samsung made an excellent marketing move by forming Anyband. Have you guys seen Anyband's MV? I bet you have... I love it! Okay, here's my interpretation of it.

In a world dominated by an evil bald man, everyone is zombiefied. There's no talk, no love, no play. No interaction!

In a world dominated by the evil-bald-man...
there's NO TALK, NO PLAY, NO LOVE :-(

Only four individuals dare to rise up against evil-bald-man. They are...BoA, Tablo, Xiah and Jinbora who forms a band...called Anyband and brings life back to a bleak and weary world. Anyband comes to the rescue!



TABLO - The Techie Rapper

All musical instruments have been confiscated, but Tablo takes his chances with evil bald man's security and breaks in to steal a precious electric guitar. Techie Tablo also breaks the security code and transmits Anyband's video over giant screens.




Jinbora - The Activist

This young lady risks being caught by evil-bald-man's security guards and puts up posters all over the place urging the people to PLAY, TALK, LOVE.

Plays a lethal keyboard rift in the background.



Xiah - The Grafitti Artist

The urge to liberate the people from the clutches of evil-bald-man is just too great for this young man. He is seen spray painting TALKPLAYLOVE on walls of the dreary streets.



BoA - The Voice

Her clear sweet voice cuts across the grey dreary world, bringing a ray of sunshine and joy to the human race. Her voice is transmitted through a satellite dish.

Anyband sings..."You can talk, you can play, you can love...It's ok."

They unite at the rooftop of one of the buildings downtown and sing their song - Promise You which breaks the human race out of evil-bald-man's hypnotic trance.

Anyband communicates via what else...Samsung mobile phones!

Trivia: Xiah Junsu was very surprised to hear that he was chosen (among all the other TVXQ boys) to join Samsung's Anyband. He says he is not confident of his looks and thus concentrates in his music.
