BoA returns to the Kpop music scene

BoA, the Kpop Queen of SM Entertainment (SME), will finally make her comeback after being away from the Kpop music scene for 5 years.

On March 1, SME released a statement saying that BoA is set to unleash a new album and meet her Korean fans in celebration of her 10th anniversary as a singer.

BOA RETURNS: The 24 year old singer is set to rock the
Kpop music scene once again

On July 23, SME unleashed a little BoA appetizer, i.e. the 24 year old's new MV Game (watch it after the jump). Currently, the singer is doing final touch-ups to her album, which will be released on Aug 5.

BoA debuted in 2000, after 2 years of training under SME. Two years after her debut, she debuted in Japan under Avex, which also manages DBSK and CSJH The Grace.

In 2008, BoA made her debut in America with Eat You Up and later released a self-titled English album in 2009.

Step aside everyone, The Queen is back, and you can even follow her on Twitter: @Boa_1105

K-pop parodies: Eat You Up & Nobody

One of the ways of knowing you’re popular is when people start parodying you. Today, we thought we’d show you two parodies that have been making their rounds on the Internet.

Hardy Har Har: Funny versions of BoA's Eat You Up and
Wonder Girls' Nobody are on the Net

The first is of Korean sensation BoA’s Eat You Up. The parody was done by an out-of-work actress in Los Angeles named Patty Yu.

Taking on the moniker CutebutDeadly, Yu entertains with her version entitled Eat You Up (Pork Buns). The MV came out on July 26, 2009. (Original MV here)

Next is a rather gross version of Wonder Girl’s hit Nobody by the mrbrown show (http://www.mrbrownshow.com).

Entitled Wash Your Hands Too, the umm…very Singaporean lyrics warns of being hygienic especially during these days when we're dealing with the H1N1 pandemic. The MV came out sometime in May 2009. (Original MV here)

BoA wants to show her tomboyish side to the US

She’s no pretty wallflower. In fact, she is a tomboy and that’s exactly what BoA wants to show everyone as she debuts in America.

Tomboy: 'Whadda you lookin' at?'

The 23-year-old told LA Weekly, “I never tried to be sexy. You know, most people say that Asian or female artists should be sexy in America, but I don't think that I have to be like that.

“I have a tomboy style. My choreography is not that way. So, I want to focus on my music style to match the choreography, which is really cool. No girls can dance those moves. I try to make them really fresh.”

If you’ve seen BoA’s Eat You Up MV (3rd version) you’ll probably nod your head in agreement.

The singer/dancer will be performing at Universal City Walk on Saturday (March 21) at 6.30pm. There will also be a meet-and-greet session for 125 people.

BoA drops 6th album in Korea and Japan

Twenty two-year-old singing machine BoA has released her 6th studio album simultaneously in Korea and Japan!

The album, which is entitled The Face, comes almost a year after the release of her 5th long player, Made in Twenty. The new album contains many different genres such as ballads, R&B, house, punk and rock music.

BoA: The singing machine makes sure she looks good before releasing The Face

The Face contains 15 songs, inclusive of past hit singles such as Sweet Impact, Lose your Mind and Love Letter. There are 8 new tracks on the album; the song Girl in the Mirror was even written by the young talent.

Hmm, BoA…when in Beijing last November, K-popped! purchased BoA’s Girl on Top (2005) album because we were curious about her. I mean, aren’t you impressed? Only in her early twenties and she has 6 studio albums under her belt!

Sadly, we haven’t gotten around to listening to Girls on Top. We’ll try to do so sometime this century :-P.

Xiah's the fashionista in Anyband

Currently, I seem to be having a fixation on Anyband (애니밴드). I've seen videos of the Anycall Anyband concert on 27 November and noticed that Xiah Junsoo (시아준수) changed his outfit THREE times during the concert. Tablo wore two different outfits, but BoA only wore her frilly dress throughout!

Here are links to video clips of Anycall Anyband Concert. In the first two videos, the camera is focused on TVXQ's Xiah Junsoo all the time. It must be taken by a Xiah fan...or, maybe it's just because he's so "fashionable". ;-)
