TVXQ concert in Malaysia review

We were waiting for the official photog’s pics to post this long-awaited entry, but can't wait anymore. Not when we've already seen photos of the TVXQ boys at the Anycall Anyband Concert (on Nov 27) AND pics of the band at the Gimpo Airport, Seoul as they were leaving for Japan yesterday! It’s the Internet age, after all.

TVXQ in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 24!

And so, here’s a special shout out to all Cassiopeians at the TVXQ Official Thread at Soompi forums. Loads more pictures at the thread, so if you want to see more of the band in action while in Malaysia, as well as fan accounts of the concert, you know where to go.

K-popped! was also at the TVXQ concert on Nov 24. The Korean boyband staged O - The 2nd Asia Tour Concert at Stadium Merdeka, an outdoor venue located right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

Last July, the popular quintet reportedly raised the roof at Bukit Jalil’s Putra Indoor Stadium, but we weren’t there to witness the event since we weren’t K-popped! yet.

Now that we’ve been K-popped!, we made a beeline to watch the Gods Rising from the East in action, and here’s the lowdown on the concert.

The Good

Cassiopeians rule
The electric energy emanating from TVXQ’s diehard fans dubbed Cassiopeians was amazing. They unreservedly exhibited their love and support for TVXQ by wearing red shirts and bringing red balloons.

A sea of support from the Cassiopeians

Electric in the air
When two white MPVs (ferrying the boys) sped into the stadium at 7.15pm, the crowd went wild. The electric energy noticeably kicked up a notch and the anticipation and enthusiasm only increased after that.

TVXQ live in Malaysia!

TVXQ's back in town to rock us!

The five boys burst onto the stage at 8.15pm sharp and launched into their very energetic routines. The fans went berserk.

Go Xi-ah, go Xi-ah!
The TVXQ boys were charming but Xiah was clearly the one with charisma and stage presence. Now I know why Samsung chose him for Anyband, he’s a good choice as he really stands out.

Xiah got wet ala Rain, got up, danced and promptly
slipped and fell twice. He recovered very quickly but here's a
word of advice: 'Don't move around so much after getting soaked, Xiah.'
- Pic credit: Michael Sin of Babyboss Pictures

Xiah’s solo sequence rocked the stadium, but when it came to the part when he got rained on, the artificial shower onstage reminded me of Rain’s signature moment during his concert earlier this year.

The two persons sitting on either side of me immediately turned around and almost simultaneously voiced out my exact thoughts. Yes, yes, friends, I know…that’s so Rain.

Timeless performance

And how about Xiah's lovely duet with guest artiste of the night Jang Ra-in, huh?

Xiah takes a breather towards the end of the concert after dancing
like there's no tomorrow throughout most of the show.

Apart from that, the dance choreography was pretty repetitive, but Xiah saved the day as he turned out to be one mean dancing machine. Somebody, stop that man before he hurts himself!

Cute Micky

'Yeah, I'm the one in the group who can communicate with fans
in English. Lemme hear you scream!'

The adorable and playful Micky sang Brian McKnight’s One Last Cry for his solo performance and it was a commendable effort. He was also the member tasked with speaking to the crowd in English and his efforts to do so were much appreciated.

Micky (left) in his 'nipple peeper' shirt

The 21-year-old had a clever way to circumvent the “no shirtless” rule when performing on a Malaysian platform. He wore a gold shredded top, which we dubbed the “nipple peeper” shirt as it showed off his chest when Micky got into the energetic dance moves.

He drove many fan girls wild that night

The fan girls screamed in sheer delight when a close up of Micky in the ensemble was projected onto the screens.

Pretty Hero

'I even sing pretty too'

Hero’s such a pretty boy and he knows how to work the crowd and get the fan girls screaming.

Tough U-Know

Leader of the group, U-Know kept dancing to a minimum that night

Despite not being completely healed from the back injury he sustained during practice in October, U-Know did as much as he could during the show.

Props

Hero deftly pilots his mini-airplane while singing

The cute props, especially the mini airplanes the boys “piloted” around onstage during the song Balloons.

Max pilots his plane around and gets stuck at one point

Micky goes: 'Look ma, no hands!'

They were evidently having so much fun onstage, you just wished you had one to pilot around as well.

Xiah "speeds" around on stage

U-Know forgets where the breaks on that thing is

Solid music
Two-and-a-half hours (almost 30 songs!) of solid TVXQ music – a heaven sent for all fans.

Ingenious “swimming”
TVXQ’s “swimming in an aquarium” highlight may just be a publicity gimmick, but the illusion was pretty ingenious. It consisted of a huge white sheet covering the height and width of the stage that functioned as a screen, an underwater image projected on it and wirework.

The Bad

Now you see him, now you don’t

U-Know disappears from stage a whole lot due to his back injury.
Get well soon!

U-know kept vigorous dance moves to a minimum because of his back injury. Thus, he sat out on most of the fast numbers. The other four members gave their all, but it still felt incomplete.

Max who?
The youngest of the group Max needs more personality as he easily got lost in the quintet. The 19-year-old’s solo moment was unimpressive, boring even.

Max fails to leave an impression during the concert

He sang in English – improvement on diction is needed as I didn’t understand most of what he sang. Only after reading the fan forums, did I discover that the jazzy, bluesy number he performed was Extreme’s When I First Kissed You.

Communication is essential
The boys lack communication with the crowd. I’ve watched their Five in the Black Concert in Budokan, Japan and they had no problems with building a rapport with the audience since they spoke Japanese.

You can give us killer looks all you want Hero, but nothing
beats communicating with us with speech

However, during the KL show, they only addressed the crowd after the 5th song. How did they do it? They spoke Korean and subtitles would appear on the two screens mounted on either side of the stage. There was minimal interaction with the crowd after that.

They didn’t prepare any rehearsed sweet talk like Rain. Now I appreciate the Energizer Bunny’s efforts in communicating with the fans, even if it was scripted and spoken in halting English. It’s so important to make the crowd feel a part of the show.

Sound check, please

Outside looking in? "Siberia" seats are so far away
from all the action :-(

Sound was bad from where we sat – Orchid dubs it “Siberia” and I felt so removed from all the action.

Maybe it was an outdoor venue, maybe we were too far away, but sound was either muffled or too loud most of the time. I had a hard time listening to what the boys were singing. Not that I’d understand, but clear sound is still important no matter what language one sings in.

Lip-syncing?

No live band accompanied the quintet

Where’s the live band? You mean TVXQ uses minus-one tracks and lip syncs the fast numbers? Really? :-(

Showy
The concert felt too showy as it relied a lot on fireworks, props and visual effects to spice things up.

The TVXQ boys balancing on the elevated, revolving stage

There were also too many video fillers in between the songs. These trimmings were supposed to complement the show and not overshadow what the group had to offer the audience – their music and showmanship!

Song selection
And strictly on a personal point of view, I didn’t enjoy the selection of songs as most of the fast numbers leaned towards the “heavy metal” side.

The boys having a good time up on stage

Give me more of that get-up and dance pop and less of the angst-ridden, mean guitar-riffed rock. Give us tracks such as High Time, Choosey Lover or Zion (this is one sensual number and I know you guys rock it!). Guess I was at the wrong TVXQ concert, huh? Those songs are sung at the Five in the Black Concert ;-).

Harmony
We want more acapella, guys! The quintet harmonises beautifully but what a shame we didn’t get to listen to more of the group’s harmonies live!

The Ugly

Venue sucked
Stadium Merdeka wasn’t a good concert venue because it lacked proper facilities (read on to find out what they were). Bukit Jalil proved to be a better venue to hold a concert.

Parking sucked
The very limited parking lots could never, ever accommodate a large concert crowd like the one on Nov 24 (the local paper reports it at 12,000).

Cars were driven up onto sidewalks to be parked and your "friendly car park attendant” demanded RM10 for letting you park illegally on the public walkway. You pay or else you’d worry something bad might happen to your car.

Toilet facility sucked
Sixteen portable toilets (8 on either side of the field) for a crowd of 12,000? Are you freakin’ kiddin’ me?! And the most hilarious part was, we who were seated in Siberia didn’t see any visible access to the toilets on the field below.

Imagine that! Sixteen of these for a crowd
of 12,000 people??!!

We did what any sane human being would do in a desperate situation like this, held in our pee. Never in my life have I been so happy at the sight of a toilet bowl (when I finally reached home).

Siberia seats sucked

We were 10,000 miles from the stage

We got the most affordable tickets (RM103) and were seated at the tiers of the stadium directly opposite the huge stage. I felt isolated from the rest of the crowd and sound was a bummer.

Screens sucked
The so-called “big screens” on both sides of the stage were not large enough. We need bigger screens to see from all the way in Siberia!

OOO I am so glad the concert review is finally up *has been waiting patiently* I actually have been just skimming through previous reviews because I wanted to hear what k-popped said first!
-Isn't Yoochun's engrish so cute and passionable. I read that when Yoochun tried to speak English he got no reaction from the crowd because no one could understand him! hehe poor boy is a testament to the horrid American public education-- someone can make it through like 4 grades with minimal knowledge of the English language :-P
I wish you gals would have had better seats-- whoa that was pretty far out there and the seating does seem weird cuz I have had nosebleed before that didnt seem so far. But even being in "siberia" you were closer than I have ever been <3 Seeing Jaejoong in person is my life's dream *ugh* just once.
I understand what you mean about connecting with the audience. Bi's prepared lines are adorable <3 I saw videos in NYC-- DBSK could have prepared a couple here and there hehe. I know that when I go to Korean concerts and all that they speak is korean(without subtitles) I feel so lost BUT since everyone else seems to like what they're sayin it works so I just follow along hehe. But I can understand how the boys would have felt so limited with communication. I'm sure it was frustrating for them too!
Considering the positive and the draw backs of the concert I am glad you were able to go and experience and share will your readers! Much appreciation indeed!

i agree..good review kpopped!

i was there with sisters..we sat at the VVIP section and it didnt do us any justice..most of the fans were standing instead of seating..and i thought seating at the VVIP area would be more relaxing but i was wrong..it was hard for us to watch the performance and also impossible for us to stand considering people behind us...*need to show some respect*....was a good show..there were some UPs and DOWNs too...

OH MY GOD! I do not even know where to begin except ~ I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING! You've put my feelings into coherent words and published them online!
I'm... I'm... speechless!
I totally concur with the fact that despite spending big bucks, I felt so left out in the pit as the boys paid more attention else where.
Micky's English is horrible. But do I still LOVE him? Hell ya! Why didn't they try harder?
I love the Budokan show and watched it everynight for two weeks before the concert so the lack of communication is indeed such a letdown! I didn't care what they said as long as they said SOMETHING! Difference in language should NOT have been a problem... I went to a Turkish concert one and trust me ~ I had fun as the singers yakked and yakked!
I still can't believe I finally find folks agreeing with me! I was cursed and speared with tar and feathers for sharing my opinions other places...
Siberia... I'm on the floor rolling right now!!!!!!!!
I LOVE K-POPPED!

Sorry ~ just one last thing... I love their Japanese songs too but to be honest and readers (if any) please forgive me for saying this, I don't think the boys think of M'sian fans worthy to perform their Japanese numbers... In some ways, the only reason they came is because we are the icing on the cake. They have more than enough venues/countries to go around ~ so our 12,000 is just bonus on top of everything else. That's probably many things were ill-prepared.

Anonymous said...

"Give us tracks such as High Time, Choosey Lover or Zion"

nope we don't want japanese songs
and i personally think that changmin's english is pretty good, good enough for me to understand

Anonymous said...

i know! u can't compare their korean concert to japanese one. i was just thinking the other day, even if i understand korean and were given the chance to pick between going for a concert in korea or japan, i would choose japan without doubt!

i) everything is live! and i just don't understand why they can't do that with fast korean numbers cos it's proven already, it won't affect their dancing AT ALL
ii) the venue is much smaller, no elaborated stage and other effects are still used, but very minimally, just nice.
iii) (seems like) the audience listen and really enjoy the show, instead of pushing each other so that they would get to touch somebody-somebody's hand.

and yeh, i've always thought their korean songs are nicer than the japanese ones. but they proved me wrong cos it's 180degrees different when they perform it live

so yeh, and i agree about the venue. but i guess they had no choice in terms of date which left them with very few venues to choose from, or maybe none. i agree, stadium putra is better but i went last yr, and the sound system is just horrible! just imagine, dbsk kinda songs played in an indoor venue. blasttt all the way

Ahh thanks for the review. You know, I always liked them since rising sun, that is my favourite song in the universe right now. Well besides Jay Chou songs....

yes!!
i agree that the venue sucked...
and initially, i was actually quite happy with the concert.... until i watched the budokan one...
then i got really unsatisfied...

the main reason was the lack of interaction....
for one thing, why did they have to speak in korean? they should have known that we mainly speak english (and chinese), which brings me to my next point, i'm pretty sure they learnt a bit of chinese, so why not use that??? plus, everything they said had subs, meaning that it was scripted!!! i was really majorly disappointed with this.
here's just my wishful thinking but i even wished they would speak japanese!! another thing was how come only micky made the effort to speak in english (even though we couldn understand him at least he tried!!)? i think the others have basic knowledge of english right???

anyway, i was really hoping they would sing some of their japanese numbers as well... i mean are tohoshinki's songs just meant for japan? then why sell their japanese albums here???(not that i'm complaining)
they should have known that their 'heart, mind and soul' was THE best selling japanese album in malaysia, so couldn't they have done something to acknowledge it?
i know that tvxq is korean but isn't one of the best things about them is the fact that they sing in various languages?

one of the points that was brought up in the soompi forum was that they(the organisers/sponsors) did not sell enough goodies... i was really disappointed that the only thing that was available was the pirated stuff that can be found in malls...

on a better note, i agree with everything the sisters said about the good and the bad a regarding the concert...only that i didn't really have a problem seeing coz my seat was the RM400 ones, the only problem was the guards; they were so obnoxious!!

so all in all, yes i enjoyed the concert but it REALLY could have been better...
but then again i'm super-grateful that they even came (i suspect this is why the concert was handled so half-heartedly coz i'm sure a lot of people feel the same).

sorry for ranting, i've been keeping it in for days!!! i was waiting for k-popped to post their review... if anyone read my whole post, thanks!!!

kpop_rub: I did understand what Micky Yoochun said when he spoke in English! He raised his hand and shouted "Are you with me!?" But there was no respond.

* Orchid screams in her heart - YES! Cos she was sitting in Siberia and no amount of screaming would be audible to Micky & the guys *

Undaunted, Micky asks again..."Are you with me?" and there was a soft "Yes".

Micky, if you are reading this...please keep learning English & don't be shy to speak. Even if you say "passionable" we'll still love ya. :-)

I had hoped TVXQ would sing these songs:
* Zion
* Proud

Maybe next time? :-)

Orchid said...

Oh..Fashionpolice...we read your whole post! ;-)

Oh. So I'm not the only one who were sitting quite at the Siberia. Hell, my friend and I felt CHEATED. SO CHEATED. Because when we buy the tickets, the 200 ones were right in front of the stage (somewhat in the middle view). But when we went there, the seating plans changed as the stage was also changed, then we were moved to the LEFT. No more middle. We even thought we could see Xiah right in front of us as we were the first row-ers. Sad. Disappointed. The 180 ones were in front of the extended stage right? Ish. Screw them. I paid more!
Other than that, I TOTALLY agree with your reviews. The sound system. Whoa, during the fast songs I couldn't hear what Max was singing. I'm sure he was singing but I couldn't hear his voice AT ALL!
Another thing is, you made me ROFL after reading your comment on the 16 toilets. LoL. I didn't realize about it. I know there were toilets on the left and right and I saw ppl lining up for it before the show start. The line was like Singapore's subway train - freakin' long! But I didn't realize about the only-16-for-12000 fact. x3

"i mean are tohoshinki's songs just meant for japan? then why sell their japanese albums here???"

i think it's because this concert is to promote their 'o' album and since in japan they're managed by a different company, so there's probably problem there. just like how they don't sing their korean songs during their japanese concerts

Liz said...

hey inquinn, TVXQ did sing a Korean song during the Five in the Black concert in Japan. They sang O - Jung.Ban.Hap.

Keep the comments coming - whether long or short - we love reading them, even if you don't agree with us :-).

Liz said...

Oh yeah, and like dottie and Orchid said, we don't give a damn if Micky's English isn't perfect.

Passionable, fashionable, smashionable...we love you Micky and keep on talking to us!

We are with you, dude - all the way. Hwaiting!

FashionPolice said...

hey inquinn, they also sang a bit of my little princess and whatever they say during their japan concert.
and for the record, sm entertainment also manage them in japan, just that it is joint with avax.
anyway, i read somewehere that the boys said they wont sing their japanese songs elsewhere coz they're a korean group. *sobs* there goes my hope of ever seeing them perform sky, choosey lover, asu was kuru kara etc etc live...

Anonymous said...

im back.
the first anonymous to post.
wow, so many feedbacks.
but then yeah, as i said before,
im a fan and it's hard to admit the concert kind of.. sucks.! >_<

couldn't blame the guys that much.
they had to follow the concept they had been following all these while.
not singing live for fast songs. i dont mind them not singing japanese songs although i would love it if they did. since this concert is called O Jung Ban Hap Tour. and they didn't even sing japanese songs in korea (except encore).

and i think Malaysian organizers and SM Entertainment are both not serious enough. Malaysian organizers did not do well enough while SM might have acted so snobbishly to take and handle the concert seriously. u know what i mean?

yeah, like what you guys have said, even if it was like that, we're always be with them rite?
remember what micky said 'together, we are one right? individually.... u know what i mean... bla3....' (oh yeah, and when he cracked up at the last part when he said thank you!. lol.

i hope they would come back and prove that they can do better than that. sing live.

Anonymous said...

Let me start by saying that I luv u guys! If i could nominate u somewhere 4 super fun k-ent, i would :) Liz, thks for your candid review. Thks to everyone for her honest & thorough reviews too. Even tho I wasn't there, I can almost feel the highs & lows of the eve based on yall acct. 1st off, the artificial shower onstage..yup, that's sooo Rain even when I know he didn't originate the act himself (& maybe cuz i'm biased toward Rain so I can't stop the comparisons from rolling inward =]). Wow! 2 1/2 hrs & only 1 scripted speech!?! Now I'm at lost for words... For any large scale concert, it's crucial to have an excellent (if not state-of-the-art) sound & visual systems along with the stage props, fireworks, & visual effects which are nice bonuses for fans' gazing pleasures. So was it SM fault 4 not forking over enough dough to make it happen or was it the sponsors' mistakes? One more topic before I cut it, lip syncing...I used to be SOOO turned off by any singer who lip sync..but now that I'm feeling a little bit more flexible, I think it's ONLY (& I do mean ONLY) ok to do that when you're young & when u have to dance so vigorously (like Chris Brown @ 2007 MTV & AMA awards). TVXQ are very young (all 21 and under?), so they're still allow some leeway for better improvement on singing live & dancing simultaneously. Hey, so long as they didn't lip synced thru out the whole concert, I think it's allright :)..& so sorry 4 those w/bad seats & not to mention the limited portable potties.. :(

Hello to all of the k-popper here.
First, i am a huge DBSK fans but i am not very active in K-popped forum..instead..i involve myself in mostly the Mandarin DBSK Fansclub like myTVXQzone and also Baidu China.
one thing tat i have to let u guys know is....
if u read their china fans club news..u'll understand a lot of things tat lead to ur dissatisdaction.
First, TVXQ had already announced officially tat they'll only perform their Japanese songs in Japan..not in any other country.
Secondly..they do try to speak the language of the country that they perform in Eg Mandarin in Taiwan, a little bit of Thai in Thailand(due to the really huge fan base in Thailand compared to Msia).n of cos..a lot of Japanese in Japan..bcs before their debut...SM already gave them Mandarin n Japanese lesson...so they know these 2 languages..on top of that, lately Hero is really working on his Mandarin bcs of the Chinese member( Han Geng ) in SuJu..
Basically, it is not an easy job for Korean to learn English..so give the boys sumtime...
n Micky didnt even receive proper education in US..He had a very very bad experience in US..so i actually feel proud of him tat despite all the sufferings in US, he came out well as Micky now..
Third, the so called 10,000 miles stage..it is actually bcs of CMG Absolute..not SM...they changed the stage structure to accomodate for the RM 803 tickets tat came out last minutes..actually...it is oso very unfair to ppl like me..who were in rock zone..bcs the stage went so far to the back..we cant c the boys at all despite paying RM 503...we were oni looking at the screen..
n i think the audience were not the oni one who got frustrated with the sound system..
i was standing right in front..first row...Micky n Xiah were also frustrated with their non-working mic...bcs for the first few songs..their mics werent working at all..
then one of the worker from Malaysia even stopped Xiah halfway when Xiah was already on the stage. From the front..we can see clearly that Xiah n Micky were shocked..bcs they were halfway singing..this worker just suddenly appeared out of no where n talked to Xiah.
Basically...i think compared to Cassiopeians from other countries..we are still too far behind..TVXQ wont feel the 'heat' with Malaysia Cassiopeians..in fact...i was actually surprised tat when they were in Malaysia, Cassiopeians tat were following them majority wasn't Malaysian, but a bunch of China citizens and Thai..
In fact, all my information about the boys whereabout n exact car number plate..exact rehearsal time, exact flight number etc came from the Chinese Cassiopeians who followed TVXQ while they were in Msia..
but of cos..sum might say this bunch of Chinese girls are crazy..bcs they pratically followed the boys everywhere...same flight from Korea to Malaysia. same hotel..same flight from Malaysia back to Korea..in fact, the 5 TVXQ boys already can recognise them.
It is the passion of Cassiopeians tat motivate the boys..before this concert..there were rumours tat oni Korean Fans can be called Cassiopeians..others cant..but TVXQ addressed us as Cassiopeians in the concert..i was SO happy..
but to 'heat up' the boys' passion towards Malaysia, we gotta show them our passion too.
Tat's all i have to say.
sorry if i accidently said sumthing wrong..

yes above anonymous..
i agree with you on how malaysian fans are not passionate enough.
yes, we're sooooo far behind compared to fans from other countries.

that's why i dont like to complain a lot about the concert (yes, the bad sound system, stage bla3). we're lucky enough to get them here.

yes, the concert kind of sucks,
but the fans were kind of the same too right? we were so lack of response.

Anonymous said...

i agree with that statement...Malaysian fans> lack response? maybe...but always the last minute fans? definitely..no wonder we are far behind compare to our neighboring country Thailand/SIngapore...

I really put my high respect to Thailand fans..they will indefinitely support Korean music no matter..despite what genre...but Malaysian..they just pick and choose who they like..the more famous they are they more fans the band will get..how about others?

am sorry> a bit of spin off here..sorry kpopped!

Anonymous said...

i'm sorry, but i don't understand why some discussion has turn to race/ethnicity when most of the complaints were about poor sound & production designs. Of course, no human behaviors are cloned. Some of us choose to be more openly expressive while others are more quiet & reserved. Plus, when there were as many as 12000 turnout @ the concert, you have to agree that it's baseless & unfair to call out Malaysian fans as unsupportive or passionless. Uh, no I'm not Malaysian; I'm American-Chinese. Or, maybe I misread your intentions; then I apologize to you if I've taken your meaning way out of context

of 12,000 people??!!

I wanna say to Liz (the one who posted this) is.....

Bengong ka???????

why do I said that?????
1. About Leader Yunho is injured....so we have to understand that situation....right???
BTW, if I was the audience, I fell really happy even if they just stood on the stage...Seeing that they are all healthy and all makes me really happy...

2. About Max solo part not really impressive....
Liz....he is Korean, not English...okay! Every nation speaks English in their own slang....
To me, I think that Max voice is very strong and high....really impressive....
In addition, he's just 19yr old....what do you expect from 19yr old boy???
His singing had REALLY improve since debut....

3. Communication....
There is one phrase...."There are three things that can unite people all over the world....food, music, and fasion"
Did you ever heard this phrase???? No communication needed....their music had unite not just all people in the stadium, but all cassiopeians all over the world!!!
We cassiopeians become one just because we really love their music....
What the heck, even we don't get what they are saying....but in our hearts, we really love them...

4. Sound check....
Hmm....about the poor sound system....
What do you expect from live shows???? plus they are performing in a large stadium...that's is normal if they are some muffled sometime...HELLO! they are singing it LIVE! try singing live now! + dancing....you will loose your breath, rite? we are all humans....so think about that....they are not singing+dancing machine....
They all human beings with red blood running all over their body cells...

5. Lip singing....this one I dont know...
If I were at the stadium, but one thing that I am sure, that is...they are human being...try to sing 24+ songs in 3hrs by yourself...can U be able to do it????
OMG! they sing + dancing + interacting with the fans all at the same time....Was it too mean to ask them to sing it all LIVE? You are crazy....

6. Showy....a lot of clips going on between perf....
Well they had to wipe out all sweat, changing cloth, put on the audio devices around their body etc + maybe they had private business (going to toilet and all....hehehe...who knows?)
Do you want to see they perform with a single cloth? I mean with the same cloth???? Come on, you yourself will have a little bit uneasy if your cloth all shed with sewat rite???
Plus the audience enjoys all the clip been showed (as far as I read in my friends blogs etc...no even a single soul said that dont show us clip like you did!)

7. Song selection.....well the concert being held was "THE 2ND LIVE ASIAN TOUR 'O' LIVE IN KL....do you know what genre the song 'O' is????? So all songs will definitely more on heavy metal songs....
If you want to hear their dance songs, why dont you go to their Five In The Black Concert???? OMG! you didn't even read the concert name!!!! You just bought the tix without really understanding the concert concept...I really feel sorry for you...really....next time read the concert name 1000x before you buy the tix....okay?

8. About the vanue....You didn't even know about this??? The Bukit Jalil stadium was fully booked on weekends throughout the year 2007!!!! Come on, this year is visit Malaysia yr...so many event being held here in Malaysia...the first choice is definitely BJ stadium...
Plus, the boys schedule had already being made, so it will be so hard to postpone the concert....ok?
Kpop Kingdom had already released official statement about that....you just dont read do you?

And of course...Merdeka Stadium...being built before we had our independence...about 50yrs ago...I we compare to human being....at 50 yr old...OMG...maybe you just sleeps on your bed rite now...
that's just what happened here...the stadium had already being expended and maintains here and there...so the facility in the stadium also improve...

The toilet outside the stadium is just the additional toilet....there are lots of toilet that we can find in the stadium...ok? its enough already...

And lastly....
9. Why do you buy the cheapest tix? I really want to say 'bengong' thing....but I must restrain myself...
So, that's why you said the audio system was bad? I know why....IT IS BECAUSE YOU SEAT FARRRRRRRRR AWAY!!!!!!
You bought the cheapest tix available and yet you complain about the distance and all...nonsense!

Next time go and buy the VVIP tix!!! so it will not turn out like this! ok?

wow wow. chill down people. ;)
no, it's true that malaysian fans (generally, not individually) are not passionate enough. im a Malaysian and admitting that. im just saying compared to other Asian countries like Thailand, Taiwan, China etc.
and in a way, IT'S NOT OUR FAULT. the music market here is divided into so many (malay, english, chinese etc) so it's HARD to spread k-wave generally.

SORRY FOR GETTING OFF TOPIC.

now back to the concert.
to the above anonymous, haha.
relax, dont take this seriously.
this is a blog, Liz is just writing what she personally thinks.
but i do agree some of the points you stated out.
communication, short clips and cheapest seats. yeah. agree on that. i think you'll hear differently based on which seats are you on. some of the fans near the stage said the fans were quite supportive (cheering, waving glowsticks, singing along etc) but some dont think so.. i thought we were loud but then i guess maybe that was just my zone.

oh well, but some bad things about the concert, we just have to admit right?

but seeing dbsk, i think they had fun. and i thought i did too at that time but after reading bad feedbacks, it kind of ruined my thoughts about it. LOL xD

All I want to say to Liz is, I still support u girl. I enjoyed reading this piece u wrote (& every other pieces u and your Kpop sis have written thus far). Your tone was agreeable, straightforward & not in the least offensive. U say things as u saw/experienced; I applaud u for not trying to sugercoat the reality of your TVXQ concert experience. (Obviously, you're not the only one who left the concert venue feeling the way u did) This makes u a good, professional & unbias blogger. To TVXQ fans: your points are well-takened and understood. But let's face it, a lil communication goes a long way -- a nice touch for fans to feel closer to their favorite artist(s). So don't take it as in insult but as a good advice for any artist to keep. "Was it mean to ask them to sing it all LIVE?" i dunno, but singing live for 2+ hrs is not an impossible task -- e.g. Rain, Se7en, Jay Chou, Beyonce, C. Aguilera, just to name a few. And if I was to attend a concert to support my favorite artist & if I could only afford the cheapest seat available, I don't think it's too much of me to half expect a decent audible stage (forget the visual), esp. for a crowd of more than 10000. For that, I blame the stage/sound production team

Whoa! So many comments = so many TVXQ fans!

I know I've taken up two spots already but I will combust into dust if I do not send out some kudos and respond with a few points! :P

Dear Inquinn ~ I agree that we cannot compare between their Korean & Japanese concerts but since the boys have not had ANY activities in Malaysia, what else are we to fall on? Furthermore, we watch NOT because we WANT TO COMPARE, but because we LOVE em!

Dear Fashionpolice~ Baby I totally agree with you about the Japanese ambums sold here! COZ I HAVE THEM TOO! :) So why sell here if it ain't for us, rite? I feel ya girl!

Dear Orchid ~ I was in the left pit when Micky said that and even though he was addressing those in Siberia (next time they come you look for me and we go to VVIP section, k??) I screamed until the girls next to me had to scramble!

MALAYSIAN FANS suck?!
I have to revert to the point whereby for a group/artist who has NEVER done any activities here; to fill 12,000 seats is good by ANY means. Secondly, for a group/artist speaking a FOREIGN (exclusing English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay, Hokkien) language, to fill 12,000 seats should be a BIG notch on anybody's belt.
Lastly, to be honest and I will probably get shot for this ~ I don't think the boys like to be stalked, if that's NOT obvious so I'm actually glad those who did were NOT Malaysians. They have said in SO MANY interviews that while they appreciate the support, they would prefer a normal life (e.g. take a bite at Burger King without 500 flashbulbs going off??)
AND FINALLY MY LAST, LAST POINT ~ despite everything ALL of us will still go to their concert in 2008 and many of us will still buy the most expensive ticket we can afford.

How can I not comment since I was there also at the VVIP seat *LOL*

1) The seating arrangements were quite a disappointment actually...paying so much to watch the screen during their perfs at the inside center stage T_T I could see them no doubt but just tiny heads *haha* Tho the boys did ran around the stage so yea, I would say it's kinda fair to everyone in all sorts of seatings..well probably except those at Siberia =P *Look u gotta justify how much you pay for your seat ppl*

2) Not all who were supposed to sit ended up standing up throughout the concert bcoz there were securities yelling @ u to "anja"! But during dance perfs you just gotta stand isnt it? The boys were like, "Jump, jump, jump" so you cant be sitting *roll eyes*

3) Other than bad sound system, recording session during the concert to be projected onto the big screen also sucks big time <_< And I really find it mind-boggling with the continuous problems with mics, props such as the plane ride.

4) Abt the boys not singing live, oh well, you gotta take the pro and cons...either you want a great fast number perf or one with them wheezing around..mind you the boys were dancing one fast track afta another ~definitely not an easy task. But the ballads ARE live ok? You can hear the difference ^^

5) And what did ChangMinnie ever do wrong in the first place to get such a review on his solo? I thought it was a good rendition from him and he did improved a whole lot if KPopped did a thorough research b4 commenting on his vocal...how many young man you have heard who is able to hit such high notes? Plus, maybe cause KPopped sat at "Siberia" so couldnt hear what Minnie was singing...I understood every single word of it ^^

6) As for the lack of communication, I have to agree *haha* Should have try harder to communicate with the fans even if it means using broken english ^^ I could understand most of what YooChun was saying tho some parts he tend to trail off *could be due to lack of confidence to talk in English since he did left US a long time ago and he didnt have good experience while he was there* The boys did try Malay and English...*not just Yoochun was speaking in English coz YunHo and JunSu as well *try to be attentive next time* And this being a Korean concert, and you being a fan or even just a concert-goers should be prepared for good dose of Korean language...cant expect everything to be translated for you. Like that might as well attend an English concert, okie?

7) Oh and the Japanese songs? This is a Korean concert..the title is 2nd Asia Tour "O" i.e. it's mainly abt the 3rd Korean album "O". I must say I was hoping that they would sing like perhaps one Jap song but if they didnt it's fine too cause maybe they wana wait for their Japanese World Tour.. *fingers crossed* And the critics on the theme being rock...Hallo??Did you listen to the 3rd album "O" in the 1st place??

8)Finally, Msian fans not worthy to perf Jap number?? What kinda comment is that? And Msia fans being just the icing of the cake...Hell NO. 12,000 is a big number ok? As artistes, I would say the boys would have been working hard for every single show, perf they have agreed to do for their fans even if it means going thru hell for them..YunHo danced even when he's hurting *I know he has been paid to perform but he's also a human afta all, give it a rest ppl!* Did you notice how tired and weary the boys looked at the Anyband concert?? T_T

Ok this is long alredi..better stop *haha*

varms said...

I really loved your review, hahaha, it made me laugh so hard!!! I'm not a DBSK fan in particular but I bought tickets after watching the Anyband MV/commercial... Despite all the bad stuff, I enjoyed it!! :) I actually gained more interest in them after that..... Now, i'm addicted to Balloons, Hug, Drive and their other popular songs! (Xiah is my main motive for watching the band actually...^^) I read your review earlier but only had time to comment now... And these are my comments:
1. Boy, can those Koreans dance!!! I loved it all and the special effects and the cute lil cars n planes...
2. Too bad about the toilets though... I was sitting way up in 'Siberia' too. Bummer...
3. I hope Xiah didn't hurt himself when he slipped... ~i heart xiah junsu~
4. I think if they sang any more ballads, i would probably have died of boredom.

That's all I can think of now... I'm not that into the kpop scene, i prefer their movies and kdramas... I'm kinda bummed coz i missed the rain concert though... Thanks for the review! (I kinda wanted to hear what a another concert-goer had to say about the concert...) ^_^

Wow, what a heated debate.

It is only fair to acknowledge that there were also good points included in this review and it was not written specifically to hit or criticize anybody just for the sake of being negative.

Anonymous said...

Freedom of speech people!!!

give the Kpopped Girls a break, the review was merely subjective and each of us are entitled to our opinions. so do they.

so if you said the venue sucks, then it sucks. hold ur horses!

I think no matter what, we will still meet again next year at the concert! :P
Also, they should have performed their Japanese songs because they're neither in Korean nor the Land of the Rising Sun so...

Anonymous said...

hi..i've read the whole post..it fun read about the bad and good thing..well i just want to talk about the lipsync..do all of u remember NSYNC?..i've watch their concert at Madison square garden..and its the best concert ever. They also dance and sing at the same time..but i don't think they lipsync..it full live sing...their song is more dance song than ballad...

TVXQ is younger than NSYNC and why they TVXQ have to lipsync..

i've just watch Se7en live concert (dvd)..he also singing live..

when TVXQ become Tohoshinki..they will perform full live...

I just love them perform live..

Anonymous said...

I love your review! i was there at the martell zone. my back hurt like mad after standing since 4pm!
anyway, i really agree with you about them relying alot on visual effects, fireworks etc.
yes,the effects and fireworks were SPECTACTULAR. But TVXQ are way too talented to rely on these to spice up the show.
Their voices alone(especially Xiah and Hero) is enough to blow the crowd away.

The best visual effect was the aquarium part. the emotion was so sad!
And yes I also agree that the absence of YunHo made a huge impact. The dances really don't look the same without him :s

All in all, above all the pros and cons, it was no doubt an awesome concert filled with charm, energy and personality and will obviously leave the fans asking for more!

DBSK come back to Malaysia again and again!! :D

~~ 1st of all... I do thk that TVXQ concert are real makin me totally 100% dissapointed... ii was there at 1124 and guess what happened... just like all others loyal cassopiea,I went there with my frenz by 11a.m (the concert was at 8p.m) ,many ppl thk that we r crazy enuff to reach Stadium Merdeka by 11a.m Just bcoz we thk that TVXQ might practise b4 the concert start so we went there with no idea... totally I thk that I'm real silly n innocent... Y? That day was about 40 clesius hot,n we were with other innocent n loyal cassopiea around the world... we waited patiently with no argue...Finally we all gettin seriously sunburn like we just came back from South Afrika... no doubt but we finally watch TVXQ reach Stadium Merdeka n practise! You only love was nice if compare to the concert live version that one... ~~ but I'm real regret with this concert... I mean,I wasted RM503 just to watch 5 stranger standin infront of me singing n dancing... I felted real cheated!!!! We brought rock zone n so we must stand, this is what happened by that day... when the concert going to open that main entrance n let de audience go in... we all have to squeezed n stucked with many ppls n even we almost bcame a sandwish n so we finally squeezed into that stadium!!! thank godness we din't injured or get hurt... we ran like hell to get a nice place(right)
but we get a real nice place coz we stand at de 1st row... my frenz faint ady so we get a 1st front place... damn,we all gettin sweat, sick n wanna vomit coz we really can't breath with stuckin with so many ppl together... I started envy those RM1OO somethg concert ticket's audience... at least thay still can sat comfortable n watch TVXQ clearly if compared to us,I rather changed my RM503 to changed my ticket to RM100 somethg... I swear I loved de boys but that day I was really dissapointed with their presemt... U can said that I sounds like critic 'bout everythg but I just wanna tell everyone who went to the concert by that day... pwizz thk again, don't u felted cheated... Don't blame Malaysian fans that they were not passionate!!! There are so many famous artist came from different world do knew this- Malaysian fans are de most active n filled-full by passionate heart... We all had
stood under the sardin can's place n we only can saw TVXQ ran from there to here n we can't see their face clearly but only with the blurr big screen... we still have to screamed n yell like idiot to makes the boys just to at least lookin at us... but nth happned!!!
Only U-Know walked slowly waved n smiled at de fans... I'm a 100% Micky fan but I agreed that his english was real ah-hem... Lastly,de M'sia concer only got 1 times of de most precious encore song- HUG !!! we all sang I'll be There for the boys n that's de ending part... ya,we do saw de boys sitting back in de stage watchin all de fans sang them but they still din't came out ... Finally we all went back home with a moody n sad memory.. I mean,I had to really blamed my ownself for fall-in-love with them through the net... I still loved de boys but just thk that de concert was like a show that the boys already practise well to present it to us...

Anonymous said...

TVXQ was known as a famous Korea Boy Band but bcoz of we went to this concert n we finally realised that we all were WRONG!!! They sang korea song bcoz they are from Korea - YES!!! but I felted like they care 'bout Japanese marketin more... Their Japanese single even getting de better selling if compared to Korean's album!!! I mean,we can't blamed them... SMTown need $$$ n so that's y they have to follow de financial way to presented... The loyal fans won't leaved them although anythgs happened rite? ~~ Mostly 85% of the audience who went to 1124 concert in M'sia also regret n felted cheated... I agreed... I can felted that too!!! but just felts extra sad to those pity fans which cried, gettin hurt n satisfied so much $$$ just to get closer to their fav idola... We all knew its not worthy for them to do that but they all rather to do it without usin their brain to thk 'bout it!!! Do u thk TVXQ will know who u all, they were so many thounsand n milions fans out there rather to die for them... they will only smiled n celebrate with their manager by countin $$$!!! Don't try to compare to those rich n innocent crazy fans to followed them by flight, hotel n concert... they can get their $ easily but we can't... going to support ur fav idol with buyin orginal CD,concert,VCD n even hlp are worth! but if doing anythgs like wastin ur parent's precious $$$ just to do this,I thk u will regret... for sure will regret!!! Don't even thk of TVXQ will know who u are, they only knew that you're 1 of their fans my dear!!!!

Dear Anonymous (who went to the stadium with friends at 11am),

Now i know why some fainted at the concert. You guys stood under the hot sun and were at the stadium 9 hours before the concert even started!?

By the time the concert starts, i guess you will be too tired and drained to really enjoy it. Please take care of your health okay? I am sure the boys would like to have healthy fans who can enjoy their performance.

to the anonymous that mentioned dbsk watched us from backstage singing I'll Be There at the end of the concert, is that true??! O_O
actually, im already glad if they did as i didn't expect them to come out even though i wished for it.

the stage was already set down (is this the right word? haha), therefore, i only wished for them to hear our singing. ^^ im already glad if they really did.

anyway, herm. i just want to say, dbsk got 12,000 fans gathered watching them is WOW as they the concert didn't have big promotion at all. sorry to compare but Rain's concert got enough promotion unlike tvxq's.

Dear i_luv_hero: I think what everyone is trying to say is that they DO LOVE TVXQ, that's why it bothered them so. If this was someone of no importance, who would have cared? Of course we all appreciated seeing them live and run around like crazy! ;) Of course it will be a night to remember.

I was at the "SIBERIA" zone and I felt so wayyy out and left behind. I dun think I'll buy the RM100 ticket again for any concert in the future.

yes yes i felt totally cheated with my rm423 ticket right corner! i could see the left corner stood up on their chairs, flashing and waving their cameras. the bloody securities mainly from either CMG Absolute or LG Mobile kept on shouting and screaming at us for not sitting on our seats and then d rela members started to shout too. they DISALLOWED us to even STAND on the ground. it was utterly pathetic to watch d audiences sitting obediently. dbsk will be like "whats wrong with this crowd, sitting obediently during my concert??!!" i took alot of time cursing at the securities than happily enjoying d concert. bloody hell.

hm jz found this blog thru google.

I enjoyed the concert with my friends and I went to their RS Concert laz year too. Frankly, I'm quite not satisfied with the sound system but, sound system never be perfect anyway. For seats arrangement, just sad that why we, the fans (or jz me?)just got to know they changed the seating plan right b4 the concert day?! so big difference!

In my opinion, compare with korean/japanese or any other countries' fans, we are just lack of..hm.."cooperation"?! We Malaysian fans used to be praised that we are passionate and bla bla when taiwanese/hk artistes came here...and nw the boys are frm korea, language is the prob, and..the korean wave in msia isn't 'big' enuf (but luckily now it's so much better!!)~~ and now TVXQ is really famous...jz continue to get more fans haha!

Being a fan of tvxq, I love the boys and their performance. As I know, they will ONLY lipsync for RS/JBH those 'fast-tempo songs' IF needed! Others ALL LIVE! eventhough no live band! We are confident with their voices/skills etc! =)

The boys are trying to have more interaction with us...compare with laz concert, they really did. hehe. What we should do is..to spread kpop wave and cooperate! Sry for my poor english too....^^;; but...the concert was great, with the boys hard work. Waiting for next one. hehe! I believe we can do it better right?!

Anonymous said...

it has been almost a month since their concert. heh.

yes, i agree with you akio.
we were lack of cooperation.
it's kind of disturbing too to see many ppl using cameras.
and too much screaming even during ballads.. hello? are you expecting the boys to notice you or something?

but anyway, like what you've said, im glad that compared to last year, everything is better (except for the venue).. and yeah, the fanbase here has gotten bigger actually..
and i would like to discuss on how to spread k-wave here in Malaysia.
but don't want to get off topic here. ^^

my last word, to the organizers, please do better next time! :\

Anonymous said...

i agree much with dottie n blinkable.. n i would like to stress out few stuffs :
1)changmin did well tht night.. even on his solo. n god he is sooo much better looking real life ^^
2)i think tht the short clips actually are great and is never a bad side of the concert. its just so cool watching the clips when later it comes to life (during DRIVE n BALLOON)
3)the venue was bad. tht needs improvement nxt time.. but ppl at the rm100 zone- u cant expect too much aite ? pay more for better seats next time n u'll enjoy more..seriously. i think the most expensive seat there is-is really worth the experience of watching them live ! oo i love them sooo muchhh=D

im really glad tht altho this concert was not that good, the fan base in malaysia has expanded-12000 ppl coming to their concert is just WOW already.

lastly, malaysian cassi0peias--lets do better n be more united next tim ;)
<3 dbsk !

I love this site a lot but even though the concert did have some bad points, these guys have been soo busy these past few months, i wouldn't blame them for not singing live. They must be extremely tired. Maybe us fans are asking a little to much from them, but if they want to be know as the worlds best singers, they do need to improve and not make mistakes like they did on this concert. But still, i wish i was there!!!!
You guys probabyly didnt hear the

1)I Love Blinkable commente that i fair and square and poited out objectivly.

2)I agreed and understand on your writing but the Changmin part will be quite fair if you write it down with more deep reserch and fair comparison in his vocal improvment.

3) Anyhow, they shoud try harder to communicate. But still, I believe they will improve it.

1)I'm not the fan of Dbsk but I ejnoyed their personality and some of their songs. On the respecrive idea you pointed out which I found some of it agree are true but I find it is hard to avoid- maybe next time malaysian company should try harder.

2)Changmin voive has improve impresivelly if we watch the Five in Black concert. Maybe it is because of the system problem.

3)I love your comments and how well it present that implied we have our own differences as well.

4) But being a writer myself I think it will make a better writing and reports if it well written and doing a full and wholesome review and reserch first before you critally said something that refers to something.

5) There is a fan and there is also antifan. Both parties has their own gulity pleasure when something is said about whom they love or hate. It just natural. There is also someone just want to being natural without soak out to much. Which is me.

6)Whatevr, being emotionall stable and rational thinking is quite a help. As I belive being too emotionally attached to a celebrity is not a healthy way for me. So this is me.

7) But i'm sorry but I'm quite upset about rasicm issues or what is near to it.0- i'm sorry if i have misunderstood. Being a malaysian all of us understand of malaysian culture. I think we deserve the same treatment as fans in other country as well.--Respond to some said that Malaysian fans is not worth to being well perfom too.

8) I didn't go but 12000 that quite a large number.

Keep writing.:)

i agree completely with the person calling liz bengong
that is totally true
but i didnt go to the concert.
i'm just 11
but i'm a big DBSK fan!
and micky's english doesn't suck,i can understand it completly.
every loyal cassiopeian would.
unlike you,who just went to the concert and wrote a stupid review
if you want to write a review, wouldn't it be common sense to get a seat at the nearest place availabe to the stage?
that's what all the reporters for the newspapers did
and the malaysian cassiopeians hald a meeting-unless you don't know-and made gifts and wrote letters to be given to DBSk and they did receive it and don't blame maysians for being anti-social,many of them are anti social, after all, malaysian are famous for being anti social.i would've shouted back to yoochn evn if i was out side the stadium.plz respect yunho.as a leader h has burdens and he noes he dances the best in the group so it was a real hard time for getting injured right before the concert.it was lucky he even came to the concert and stood there singing.what did you expect?him dancing to the fast songs?try getting your back injured and sing and dance at the same time!i bet you'll fall and hurt yourself again!
what do you want if you buy the cheapest seat?the stage right in front of you?the boys sitting beside you?dare to dream!
and don't insult DBSK
they are what they are.

i was there.
i actually reached there at 8a.m to wait..(the concert started at 8p.m)..and well..i bought the rm503 ticket and was at the right rock zone..the things i'm very unpleased are:
1.the size/amount of the doors WE were supposed to get through to get into the stadium...well,i was THIS CLOSE to dying out there.
2.communication.yoochun did try to communicate with us with english but the response was..soft.i think everyone were not shouting or something liddat..(i shouted until i sorta got sore throat after the concert)
3.when the boys were standing right in front of the stage(were the sibeirians could see clearly),the fans in the rock zone could only see their butts, like super tiny ones?so we had to look at the screens..
4.malaysian fans did not response enough.honestly, many malaysian fans only like them half-heartedly.i'm telling you this because i know a lot of people who are like that.only a tiny bit of fans REALLY like them.
5.yunho's inability to dance normally.it was SO disappointing man.without him,it just seemed unreal.and he was the only member who did not walk to my side!
6.interaction with fans!!! i felt 'so near yet so far'.

though,i still feel i'm very blessed to see them perform LIVE!!and actually see them in person!and i totally agree with the part where someone said they did not even do ANY activities in malaysia and the fan base was so big!it's actually a record for a foreign artist(excluding english, chinese, canto, hokien, malay, tamil)to have a concert that 12,000 fans came!so yeah..even though i don't think they'll be coming back this year(no new korean albums out yet),so i think i'll go for suju's concert.but if they're coming to do activities/concerts here,i'm definitely going!

OMG! 69 comments! XD (including mine here. ^^)
LOL, seriously, a VERY hot topic here. anyway,
other than the Malaysia concert on astro AEC,
8tv will be showing their Banjun Drama on 8th February at 2pm and M.Net KM Music Festival 2006 on 9th February at 2pm (yes, DBSK kind of ruled the award show. LOL).

to everyone of you who posted comments, including the host for this blog.

OMFG, u call yourselves Malaysians?
can all of you be a little united?
you're just complaining this and complaining that and u people said that u're cheated?
GOSH...
you should be grateful if u had the chance to see their concerts,
most of the cassiopeians are having their SPM's and STPM's during the concert and they do not have the oppurtunity like u people.
just, be grateful and thankful ok?!
the boys worked hard for the concert.
i know my comment here is rude and not so polite.
but, they, TVXQ and also the organisers had tried their best,
so , GET A LIFE people!

hey there~~~~

i was there!!!!!!!!!
i hv to say i agree with most of ur comment on this review.... but there are things that i disagree on too....

for instance about their song selection...
i quote wat u wrote "Give me more of that get-up and dance pop and less of the angst-ridden, mean guitar-riffed rock. Give us tracks such as High Time, Choosey Lover or Zion"
for your infomation, the concert's focussed on their third KOREAM album.... therefore all of the songs selected should be from O Jung Ban Hub album.... and since its a korean concert, they only chose KOREAN songs to be included...

Venue....
i agree... the venue suckz!!! but there were not much that the management can do at that time as Bukit Jalil Stadium was booked prior by sum other artists... so Stadium Merdeka was the only choice left for them...

Max who???
Max, he might be the youngest of the quintet, but he posses a strong voice.... without his voice, songs like hye girl and purple line cant be a complete one.... his part completes their songs.... (all five of them have an important role in singing... the harmonisation wont be completed with the absence of any one of them....) the solo he sang on the concert day was a case of bad song choice.... he could hv done a better job if he were to choose another song...

"Where’s the live band? You mean TVXQ uses minus-one tracks and lip syncs the fast numbers? Really?"
yes... they lipsyncs their fast numbers.... and NO they did not lipsync their ballads... its just that they did not bring live bands... if u check carefully... all of their crew was brought all the way from korea... all of the props...stage's equipment, sound n light engineers... all koreans~~~ they did not use local(msian) crew... well... except for some minor work... and it costs them billions.... i dont think they need to spend more money on bringing the live band all the way frm korea as it is not an essential thing....

Showy???
Of course a concert need a ground of its own... dont you think??? dbsk's concert have been highlighting its own identity right frm the start... fireworks and extravagant props are the concert's identity.... and i think we all agree that all of the foreworks n props DID NOT overpowered the boys or wat they hv gt to offer us... on the contrary, it BROUGHT out the best in the boys.... and also it distinguish the boys's concert with other artist's concert...

Communication IS an essential thing during the concert.... i agree with this.... but as a big fan of DBSK that has been following them since the day if their debut back in 2003/2004... the fact that they came here is already a reason for me to be happy... and thankful... back in 2004, no one knew them... i can just walk around and show their pics and confess that one of them is my boyfriend and people would believe me.... its frustrating that ppl in msia dun know such talented group existed up till 2006....

it might be late for me to comment dis but after reading all your comment about dbsk concert last year,i've got the real view(the good & the bad one)about the concert..since,i'm not there i dun know wat really happened..when i watched dis concert at u-tube,i feel so relief for not been there..even there,i can't hear them well & sound system so bad...i have never experienced all dis becoz i hate crowded+noisy place even though i want to watch them perform live however prefer to dvd lor....unfortunately,no eng sub provided..i dun know y?mybe as wat u guys said about msian fans+market here,da distributor do not concern about people like me(who do not u/stand japanese, korean well)to really enjoy da dvd version..i'm quite frustrated for the dvd 2nd live tour 5 in da black..even dvd,no sub provided!!argh!come on,please take a look for rain dvd concert+album, even he say 1/2 line korean there also sub provided.although i'm not so good in english but at least dis language is better( refer to dictionary)...truly,to learn jap&kor it totally takes so much time...it's not easy..i really hope dat, becoz of dat i have to find the sub from u-tube and some kind waste my time...*sight*wat about dis T album,i think it almost da same..i'm so curious wit wat they're saying during da concert, incomplete w/out knowing it..huh~~sory for commenting out of topic but it's still bout dbsk rite..huhu~~btw,it's fine if i'm not casseopeia,i'm just 1 of their million fans...
