With the upcoming release of the Wachowski Brothers' Speed Racer, singer/actor Rain is set to promote the flick in Asia.
The Energizer Bunny will be promoting Speed Racer in Korea on April 20, and in Hong Kong on April 23.
Rain will be promoting Speed Racer in Asia...hey, why noMalaysia on the list? Huh? Huh?
The 26-year-old will then fly to Los Angeles to attend the movie's premiere with his Hollywood co-stars. After that, it's a short stint in Japan in June.
Why is Rain not part of the Los Angeles press junket?
Well, a representative of Warner Brothers said: "Hollywood actors are promoting the movie on various talk shows (in the United States) but in Asia, no one is as popular as Rain so we are expecting a great response from his promotions of the film here."
Speed Racer is slated for a May 8 release in Malaysia.

because he doesn't know how to speak decent english. and because he's not important enough in the US market. even the press releases doesn't even mention his name(unless it's in an asian media)

Actually the whole reason they even cast Bi in this movie was to attract audiences in China, Korea, and Japan... So it makes perfect sense that he's there promoting. They want someone relevant in those places. Having him promote in the US would be kinda pointless since he is not well known here YET. ^^ BTW what is the date of the US premiere?

I just read Empire mag at a newstand, it has an interview w Emile Hirsch but there's no mention of Rain. Yet. Sigh.
It says the movie opens on May16th in the states. I am confused... would someone be able to clear that up ?

Hong Kong is the only city in Asia that would devote PAGES and PAGES to the promo. Their paparazzi is crazy. Bi goes for mileage first, and then $$.
If his next movie is with Tom Cruise, he'd do it for free.
