Jung Woo-sung wins Best Supporting Actor at AFA

The 3rd Asian Film Awards (AFA, Asia Film Award) was held on the 23rd March in Hong Kong. Korean actor Jung Woo-sung bagged the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in the movie The Good, the Bad, the Weird.

The kimchi western had eight nominations out of 13 award categories namely, for Best Film, Best Director (Kim Jee-woon), Best Actor (Song Kang-ho), Best Supporting Actor (Jung Woo-sung & Lee Byung-hun), Best Cinematographer (Lee Mo-gae), Best Composer (Dalpalan / Jang Young-gyu) and Best Visual Effects (Kim Wook). Out of the eight nominations for the team, only Jung Woo-sung walked away with an award.



In an interview with Jung after the ceremony, when asked if he would accept a supporting role again in future, Jung replied, "Of course. I like attractive and challenging roles. As an actor, I am always looking to play different characters as it makes the experience richer."

Jung also mentioned that if given the chance, he would like to work with directors John Woo and Gordon Chan. About future plans, he mentioned that he is now considering several projects - it might be a movie or drama next.

Another notable South Korean win at the AFA was for Best Editor : Kim Sun-min (The Chaser).
