Kim So-eun embraces adulthood

Not quite 20 yet, but Kim So-eun talks about becoming an adult

Kim So-eun (born 6 Sept, 1989) who has enjoyed great success after appearing on the hit drama Boys Before Flowers turns 20 this year! In an article in sidusHQ's Magazine [ i(ai) ], Kim talks about her transition from teenager to adulthood. A Bar Mitzvah of sorts if you will.

Clutching 20 roses - to represent a year for each rose, Kim says "I really do not know if I become an adult this year. My parents are afraid to take a back seat (when it comes to making decisions) but I pray it will be thrilling. I feel liberated."

When asked what she wants as a gift, Kim replied "I want to receive a camera. I like photography very much."

Kim also expressed that she would like to travel to Greece. She would also like to go to Egypt and is interested in ancient civilizations. "I've only seen pyramids in photo books. I would like to see pyramids for real and touch them."

I feel liberated and look forward to new experiences...

Kim talked briefly about her current projects i.e. the movie 4th Period Murder Mystery and up and coming KBS drama The Man Who Can't Get Married. She asked her fans for their support, love and to cheer her on.

Kim will also be active at the of Republic of Korea International Youth Film Festival (3 - 6 June) as she has been appointed an ambassador at the event.

Please look out for my summer projects! You won't be disappointed!

Do you know what a Bar Mitzvah is? This has NOTHING to do with a Bar Mitzvah whatsoever.

Nothing to do with bar mitzvah in the literal sense, but the writer of this article did say 'a bar mitzvah of sorts'... So it's NOT EQUIVALENT to a bar mitzvah, but kind of similar.. Where a person is 'inducted' into adulthood..

thanks Anonymous #2

I checked up on wiki...

When Jewish children reach a certain age, they become responsible for their actions, and become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.

So in the article above, Kim So Eun has reached the age where she would be responsible for her actions.

I guess that's where the similarity lies.

i get the poster's comparison. she just simply means coming of age of sorts.

however, i hate to be nitpicky, but i think you mean BAT mitzvah, as that applies to girls. BAR mitzvah applies to boys.

No prob, Orchid. Anonymous#1 must feel strongly about Bar Mitzvah, perhaps..?

I just get annoyed when people use religious events to make some kind of joke or to try and use it as a cute turn of phrase. Bar (or Bat) Mitzvah doesn't mean any of what you all are saying, I don't care what Wiki says. It would have made more sense to use the Japanese term for when kids turn 20 and they wear kimono and celebrate.

@anonymous What is the term for that? When Japanese kids turn 20?

anonymous 8:04, calm down. sheesh. you don't have to care what wiki says, but doesn't mean it's not wrong either.

meant to say "doesn't mean it's wrong either."

Politics and religion are two things people are always touchy about. I get the idea but others are less forgiving, hint #1 anonymous
