Lee Joon-ki is 2009’s Top Hallyu Star

Lee Joon-ki (The King and the Clown) is named the top Hallyu Star of 2009. Do you agree?

An online poll conducted by Finance and Economy News showed that Lee Joon-ki beat fellow nominees such as Bae Yong-joon, Kang Dong-won, Kwon Sang-woo, So Ji-sub and Song Seung-hun for the coveted title.

No 1: Lee Joon-ki is makin' (Korean) waves

The results are based on votes cast by netizens, as well as the site’s page view statistics. Lee raked in 40% of the total 26,078 votes and subsequently named the No. 1 Hallyu Star of 2009.

When the 27 year old was informed of his win on Dec 31, he said: “I feel happy and touched (by the news), perhaps because this is the last day of the year. I think it carries a bigger significance because netizens directly voted for me as this year's top Hallyu star. This year was very meaningful because I got to meet my Asian fans in Japan, China and Taiwan.”

• Solo singer : Rain (31.1%)
• Male actor : Yoo Seung-ho (34.5%)

• Drama : "Shining Inheritance" (33.3%)
• Film : "Take Off" (29%)
