Apart from Ryu Si-won, who relied on his popularity as an actor to get to the top, TVXQ's number one ranking is a (bona fide) first by Korean male singers. The success is extra sweet this time around as heavyweight Japanese singers also released their albums on the same day.
Oh, and why the different monikers? Well, they are called Tong Vfang Xien Qi (TVXQ) in Chinese, Dong Bang Shin Ki (DBSK) in Korean and Tohoshinki in Japanese. Different languages, same meaning, which roughly translates to: Rising Gods of the East.
K-popped Sisters will refer to them as TVXZ…eh, we meant TVZW – ah, what the fish? TVZQ? Aiyoh, good grief! TVXQ in future entries.
Aug 7 update:Due to Chin's astute observation (in the comment thread), TVXQ will now be referred to DBSK in this blog. Thank you, Chin. :-)
