Gwangju Kimchi Festival

After ushering in the Autumn season last month, Koreans now prepare for the bitter winter ahead with a festival of pickles! October 17th (that would be tomorrow) kicks off the Annual Gwangju Kimchi Festival in the South Korean city of Gwangju. The festival will end on October 21st.

Look at all that kimchi! My tummy is beginning to squish & squirm...
urgh... never had a good moment with kimchi.

At the festival, visitors can sample different varieties of the pickled cabbage, compete in a kimchi making contest, learn how to concoct their own kimchi or savour traditional dishes prepared with kimchi.

Of course, no party is complete without some music. Traditional korean folk musicians, pop group Shinhwa and other unnamed famous performers will be present at the festival to entertain the many kimchi lovers browsing the yummy tasting stands.
