Jeon Do-yeon bags 7 awards in 2007

Seven (not the singer) seems to be a good number for actress Jeon Do-yeon. The 34-year-old has bagged a whopping 7 awards this year (2007) in recognition of her work!

Her most recent win was at the 6th Korean Film Festival on Dec 1. The star's many trophies are attributed to her lead role in Secret Sunshine, a heartbreaking story about a widow who moves to a small city with her son after the death of her husband.

Jeon also made cinematic history in May when she became the first Korean to win a best acting award at an international event, namely, the Cannes Film Festival.

Yup, 2007 is indeed a very good year for the Lovers in Prague actress.

Here's the list of her awards:

  • Best Actress, Cannes Film Festival
  • Special Award, Daejong Film Festival
  • Okgwan Order of Culture Merit, Korean Ministry of Culture and Tourism
  • Best Actress, Asia Pasific Screen Awards
  • Best Actress, Korean Movie Critics Association
  • Best Actress, Blue Dragon Awards
  • Best Actress, Korean Film Festival
The good news is there's a possibility that Jeon will be adding another two trophies to her burgeoning collection. Rumour has it that she may be nominated for the Golden Globes as well as the prestigious Academy Awards!
