More news on the launch of the Korean version of YouTube. Apparently, Koreans aren’t impressed by the world’s largest video sharing website and prefer domestic site offerings such as PandoraTV.
Korean netizens find that the service offered by YouTube fall short of their expectations as the nation, which is known for its widespread high-speed Internet, have highly-developed tastes. Some are saying that the video quality is poorer than that of domestic sites.
After YouTube Korea was launched on Jan 23, it was mostly filled with English-titled videos and only a handful of clips contained genuine Korean content.
Also, popular clips only managed 4,000 to 5,000 hits, compared to thousands of hits on popular clips at domestic sites.
What do you think? Is it too soon to make judgments or is YouTube Korea one big flop?

Koreans always prefer domestic sites. I'm sure Yahoo and Google are well aware of this.
I dunno, pandora IMO is a terrible site lol but if that's what they like better...
they're been using it even before.. just look at the pirated videos of all their artists. but of course they're going to say it's failure because it's not their own.
I think Koreans prefer Pandora to Youtube just because everything is in English in Youtube. Although they just launched Youtube Korea, only menus are in Korean there and contents are still in English.

I'm not even Korean, but I agree with this. I hate the quality on there. I like Daum, FreeChal, and other Korean stream sites better.
well, the korean made sites are those really tailored to korean culture way of using the internet. it'll be hard for youtube to penetrate the already saturated market. i'm not suprised by koreans being unimpressed with youtube, i'm not quite impressed myself...
For me, YouTube is mostly just a way to see a video pretty quickly. It's kind of like the Google of videos; you can find almost anything. The quality is crap though. I'm not surprised that they are unimpressed.
