BoA wants to show her tomboyish side to the US

She’s no pretty wallflower. In fact, she is a tomboy and that’s exactly what BoA wants to show everyone as she debuts in America.

Tomboy: 'Whadda you lookin' at?'

The 23-year-old told LA Weekly, “I never tried to be sexy. You know, most people say that Asian or female artists should be sexy in America, but I don't think that I have to be like that.

“I have a tomboy style. My choreography is not that way. So, I want to focus on my music style to match the choreography, which is really cool. No girls can dance those moves. I try to make them really fresh.”

If you’ve seen BoA’s Eat You Up MV (3rd version) you’ll probably nod your head in agreement.

The singer/dancer will be performing at Universal City Walk on Saturday (March 21) at 6.30pm. There will also be a meet-and-greet session for 125 people.

She never tried to be sexy.. and she doesn't think she has to be like that in her debut in America -- yet all her songs in her newly released all-Engrish album has a sexual undertone to it (even the titles say it all)..

Maybe she needs to rethink what she just said.

face the truth.. she never tried to be sexy not bcos she didn't want to but she has body like 12 years old caucasian girl. so it's very hard for her try to be sexy.

I mean her body doesn't let her to do
sexy things.

i like her choreography. really, i find it amazing!

but i agree with 1#, her eat you up MV is so cool, but she did another version for US and it has sexual undertone. i hope what she meant was for her next project. she looks even cooler if she stay the way she is, tomboyish. i love her that way.

I love BoA!! I can't get enough of this song! It's really hard to get out of one's head while taking the State Tests! This song is addicting.

Yeah, I"m pretty sure that any of the girls from the ABDC crews could probably kick her arse in a dance off. I guess she considers herself a tomboy compared to the rest of the female Korean acts out there.

Uh, anyone noticed that whoever helped her put her album together really didn't understand western culture? Her lyrics are odd, not in line with current north american trends? "I want to eat you up" is suppose to mean something? Nevermind sexual undertone, it sounds kinda stupid.

She looks like that girl's ghost from movie The grudge dancing with all the white tone and black mouth and eye with long hair hahahahaha... the dance and song doesn't mesh well...
