Jang Hyuk, Shih Min-ah (A Love to Kill) and Kwon Sang-woo made their movie debuts in this very same movie.
Jang Hyuk and Shih Min-ah played the leads in this movie. Technically, it wasn't Jang Hyuk's debut, but he was in just one other movie before this, and it was a minor role.
Directed by Kim Tae-kyun, it's a martial arts sci-fi visual feast, which adopts a look and feel of Asian comics.

Wah this is the first time I am commenting. Actually I hv been an avid reader of your blog. It's great and it's in...English :) BONUS! I love your little nuggets of Korean stuff, be it relevant or not but you sound like you are having fun and sharing it! Anyway, when I first watched Volcanic High, I was blown away by the way it was done WUXIA style except it was in a high school! It was very refreshing!Even though Kwon Sang Woo's role was minor, you will notice him and his buff bod. Jang Hyak and Min were great too. Highly recommended!
This was the first Korean movie I've ever seen . I remember when they showed it on MTV. It was dubbed though and the voices were done by famous rappers and singers.It was really cool and Jang Hyuk was so cute with blond hair^^. I love Volcano High
I remember when it was played on MTV years and years ago... I didn't watch it cuz I thought it was Japanese :-P oh dang me! I'll get around to watching it one of these days!
well,it's one of my friend fav korean movie but for me it was 2 confusing so i don't really like the movie..but it's ok i guess..and a plus for the movie bcoz kwon sang woo is staring in the movie..lol..

i watched the mtv usa version a while back but always thought it was a japanese film. i only found out just recently that it was a korean film. kwon sang woo was hot stuff back then too. i didn't even know i was watching these actors who i totally love now.
i heard the usa version doesn't live up to the original version though. the one i watched was dubbed with hip-hop singers. plus the usa version has a totally different story line.
yeah this is my first Korean Movie too. at first I thought this is a very DARK movie. Well, you can see from the background. Even the school ground look so DARK. But it's very comical. Good to laugh your heart out even though you're not Jang Hyuk fan. I love Sim Min Ah in this movie.

I actually saw this at the Toronto International Film Festival back in 2002 on the big screen BEFORE the hip hop soundtrack and dubbed English dialogue. It's one of my favorite films. I really recommend it to anyone who likes action comedy.
