Keanu Reeves promotes Street Kings in Seoul

Street Kings: Keanu Reeves in Seoul

I wish I was in Seoul today, so I could be at the Yongsan CGV Theater at 7.30pm in central Seoul to watch Street Kings...instead of catching the movie at Cineleisure Damansara (the movie has been showing in local cinemas since April 10).

Why? Because my long-time favourite actor Keanu Reeves is in Korea to promote his latest cop thriller Street Kings! Whoa!

키아누 리브스: 오빠, 사랑해요!

The 44-year-old (and no Sasjo, he doesn’t have heavy jowls and isn’t FAT!! You’re just jealous) is set to appear at a special red carpet ceremony tonight at the venue mentioned above.

But before the evening festivities, Mr. Reeves held a press conference this morning at the Hyatt Hotel. The Matrix trilogy star will be leaving Korea on April 19. Awww, 오빠 사랑해요!!!

In other semi-related news, Keanu Reeves’ A Scanner Darkly co-star Robert Downey Jr. and director John Favreau (Elf, Zathura) were in Seoul to promote Iron Man! The pair held a press conference at Shilla Hotel yesterday.

Iron Man will be released in Malaysia and Korea on April 30. Moviegoers Stateside will only get to watch the technologically advanced superhero in action on May 2.

Also visiting Korea is English rock band Duran Duran. The trio arrived in Seoul yesterday evening and will perform for the masses today.

Liz, i don't believe this...what a co-incidence! Keanu Reeves was your favourite before Rain knocked him off his #1 spot! And today, we are going to watch Street Kings and now news of him in Seoul! Cool!

In the second pic there...he looks like he just had some botox injections on his face.

Oi Orchid! What BOTOX!!!????

oh this is unfortunate... upon reading your post i texted Alex (english name of my Korean boyfriend who is at present here in the Philippines) about Duran Duran being in Seoul right now... he's really sad coz this rock band is one of his favorite bands...

anyway, i hope they drop by P.I. so we could get to watch them together instead... haha...

i LOVE duran duran!!! "her name is rio and she dances in the saaaaaand!" their tickets were very expensive and completely sold out when they played in LA last year...i couldn't go. :( so i hope s. koreans treat these legends well!

Watched Street Kings last night. It was very good. And Keanu Reeves (키애누 리브스) was quite excellent in the star studded movie. =) Sasjo, you should go watch. It's good!!

Ha ha ha, see...SEE... Keanu Reeves rocks!

The movie was excellent folks. It totally blurs the line between good cop, bad cop. And Keanu is perfect for the role!

He's still got his mojo. Yay! Now take back that BOTOX remark Orchid. Take it back!

Keanu, marry me!

hahaha...

keanu don't need a BOTOX lar!
he is naturally good looking...

arg!! KEANUUUUU!!! I MISSED U!!!
^i agree. speed racer was amazing. he luked hot. owh, he did luk hot in matrix too, but that was sorta lyk confused hot, not action hot xD

Liz said...

My dear iaredil, Keanu was in Speed, not Speed Racer, that's Rain's upcoming movie. :-) Hee hee...

I totally enjoyed Speed and The Matrix (first movie only, the other two were just riding on the first flick's awesomeness), but was totally smitten by Keanu in Constantine....

Yes Liz, i take back the botox remark. Keanu was truly compelling in Street Kings. Even his "kayuness" has gone a bit due to age... The role of tough cop really suits him.

omg! duran duran is in seoul!?! wow, i'm way more excited about duran duran then the 3 actors mentioned even though the band isn't from my music era. hmm...1987 was...i have no clue.

iron man is going to be a pretty massive movie. he's going to be in this other movie called "Tropic Thunder". People will be seeing RDJ in a whole new light.

dang, everybody is hitting up korea too. span out to the other asian countries!

ooh ooh! keanu reeves reminds me of this corny joke that i shall share:
What do you call Keanu Reeves’ stunt double? Spare Reeves! ...if that makes sense. it took me a second to figure it out the first time i read it.

I just love Keanu! I just thought I would mention, that John Favreau was in the movie the Replacements with Keanu and of course Robert Downey Jr. was in a Scanner Darkly with Keanu. Also Keanu's ex girlfriend Amanda de Cadenet is married to one of the guys from Duran Duran. Funny how are all connected to Keanu in some way!

Oh wow...check out this video of Keanu Reeves in South Korea! The Korean fans go wild when he walks down the red carpet. :-) And then answers a few questions.

Keanu was so surprised to see SO MANY fans...he went like "WOW!"

Check out the clip on StarNews Korea!

Is this his first visit to Seoul?

Oh gosh, sounds like I must watch Street Kings. Is he like the conflicted protagonist on the alignment of chaotic good? *drool* I lurve hard-boiled cop/gangster movies.

Liz, remember we went to see M.I.2 twice in a row (or was it 3 times) because Dougray Scott was such a sexy villain? Ha ha. Would you do that with Street Kings?

After watching Street Kings, i was thinking about the clever plot which is comparable to LA Confidential. No wonder! Both movies are adapted from novels by the same author - James Ellroy!

But according to the NYTimes review, the movies generally fail to capture the true tone and texture of Mr Ellroy's dark places. Means the book is better? Ahh..the movies are good enough for me though. =)

@Rooster...where was i when you guys watched M.I.2 twice in a row? I don't remember that. We made bookings for Street Kings two nights in a row though... just in case. ;-)

Liz said...

@ Rooster...oooh, yeah I remember that. We had such a crush on Dougray Scott's sexy villain.

In Street Kings, Keanu's character isn't so much a villain, but yeah, the character's conflicted...and more yummy still is, he is an "innocent" pawn in a dark and deadly game of "chess". Better not say too much now.

Go watch Street Kings already Rooster! Yeah I would watch it again. In fact I SO WANT THE DVD to add to my Keanu Reeves' collection.

@ Orchid...yeah, where WERE you when Rooster and I watched MI2 over and over again?

Probably making one of your lousy Botox jokes and missed the outing. Ha ha ;-P.

@Orchid on whether this is Keanu Reeves' first visit to South Korea...it is!!!

i saw Street Kings this evening (and Forbidden Kingdom an hour later). it's a good movie and Keanu is better in it. by the way, Duran Duran is totally from my era. when they came out, i think i was in Form 3 at the time. i was so crazy about them that i saved my everday allowances and went hungry at school just to buy their albums and magazines featuring them. aargh ... now i feel reaaaaally old!!!

Aren't you people in Seoul lucky to
have Keanu Reeves there. I am in Bangkok his movie also showing here
but he didn't come here. Well, I am happy for his fans in Seoul.
