Rain re-records Rainism

Rain has high expectations to live up to

Rain has decided to re-recorded the title track from his 5th album Rainism. Under the influence of the Commission on Youth Protection, Rain changed the lyrics of his song and recorded a new version. Earlier, the song Rainism was criticized for having sexually explicit lyrics.

Rain's management company, J Tune Entertainment released a statement on the 24th November that the singer has decided to make amendments to the song. They also told the public which part has been changed.

떨리는 니 몸 안에 돌고 있는
나의 매직 스틱

더 이상 넘어갈 수 없는

한곌 느낀 Body shake

changed to:

심장을 파고드는 리듬 느껴봐
Now feel my soul

너와 나 하나되어 외치는
나만의 레이니즘

Rain re-recorded the song on the 23rd November because the Commission of Youth Protection was going to propose a protest with regards to the lyrics.
This second version of Rainism (레이니즘) will be available at online music sites from now on. Also, in future broadcast and public performance, you will be seeing Rain performing this new version instead. The 5th album CD that carries the original version will have a "not to be sold to those under 19-years of age" sticker affixed to it.

Complaining about the lyrics is one thing, but i think forcing Rain to change it and these actions are too much. I didn't think it would come to this, but like i said earlier, Rain is a house-hold name in South Korea. He is a role model to the youth there and his decision to revise the lyrics without taking this to court is commendable.

That's a nice move that Rain made. I guess people in Korea are still not ready for those kind if songs. It's way ahead their time.

Is this also something related of him being cut at sbs the other day???
Well, anyways this is a very smart move actually...even though it's unfair (my opinion), it'll be better for him as a popular person in S. Korea...besides he'll be more respected i guess because of this decision...anyways...still will be listening to the previous one hehehe...hwaiting bi oppa!!!

I already bought his album and it has the original version. HA HA HA.

Yeah i have the original version and can still listen to it. But i don't know if he will perform his "magic stick" dance again. The one with the cane. I read that he practiced for 3 months with the cane! I shall miss the dance...

Poor Rain..His efforts were just..aww..but yeah, that's part of being a celebrity..Not everyone can be pleased..Goodluck to him though! He must be tired with all these successive mauling over his song..lol

I don't know much about how this works in Korea - is it common for an artiste to " bow to " pressure and re-record a song?

Is this the reason why he has dropped the cane in his recent ' Rainism" performances?

I'm glad i got the album before the changes, But i liked watching his performances and hearing the audience sing the english parts.

So i guess the rerecordings he had planned in english, chinese, and japanese will be with the new lyrics.

Didn't J Tune issue a statement clarifying that the "suggestive lyrics" were about the cane dance and not the "acts between a man and a woman" (or something along that line?)

By re-recording, he's admitting to what he was (wrongly?!) accused of.

Fraulein,

He only changed the cane dance portion during the MKMF performance (which was a major performance and he wanted to make an impact) on 15 Nov. He was accused of the "suggestive lyrics" weeks earlier.

Oh really? He went so far as to change the lyrics? Awww...cho sweet. Magic stick or no magic stick, I'm still a fan.

Just be that bad boy, Rain...that "bet bet" boy.

Thanks for the replies.

@ Joo, I haven't seen the Blue Dragon awards so I won't know if there was a cane or not. He definitely didnt have one on MKMF 2008, nor did he perform with one on Open Concert.

When I think about it, it looks more like a commercial call to record it again. Not doing so means losing potential revenue on the teenagers and tweens who cannot buy it 'cos they are underage.

Then again, who buys them in Korea these days? They download stuff.

no cane at Blu Dragon awards
