Korean boy band SS501 were in Kota Kinabalu (KK), East Malaysia for 4 days, 3 nights. They were at Gayana Resort in KK, filming a special DVD for fans. As an additional gift to their Malaysian fans, they decided to stop by Kuala Lumpur (West Malaysia) to have a meet-the-fans session!
The fan meet was a huge surprise and it was only a few days before the event that we received news of it. But nevertheless, hoardes of delighted fans turned up to support the event! At last, Korean celebrities decide to come to our shores, instead of going to Singapore or Thailand!
Triple-S Malaysia welcomes their idol group with a huge banner!And as a special gift, Triple-S prepared a Baju Melayu
(Malay traditional attire) for each of the boys, gift wrapped nicely in a box.
So on 3rd September 2009 - everyone was excited! Although the fan meeting was at 6pm, fans started arriving early and by 2pm, there was a long queue at One World Hotel. Your ticket to the fan meeting? You had to purchase a SS501 CD which is on sale at the event. At around 4pm, CD sales started and each CD cost a whopping RM70! Never mind the hefty price, the CDs sold like hot cakes and before you knew it, they were all sold out.
Two CDs were on sale (by Warner Music i presume):
- SS501 Solo Collection
- SS501 Taiwan SuperHits
ss501 leader Kim Hyun Joong meeting Malaysian fans! Those who purchased the CDs could go in to meet their idols. But each fan is only allowed to get one autograph (from only one of the boys). I thought of attending the event after work, but then i am glad i didn't go, after reading the fan accounts. Getting to the venue after work would mean i would have gotten there rather late, and all CDs would have been sold out!
Many were disappointed when the CDs were sold out. That means, they didn't get to go into the fan meeting area. Also, some who bought the CD and managed to get it, complained that they didn't even get to see the boys. I guess there were just too many excited fans waiting to meet their idols.
SS501, please come again!

YES! I so second that... haha... They finally came to the country sitting in between Thailand and Singapore =)
I have to admit that I'm impressed with the TripleS... They managed to print and prepare 200 fan tags and that huge banner in a few days... Plus the gifts and even baju melayu? Really dedicated...

Huh? It's not like K-pop artistes always come to SG. We've only had 4 concerts ie. Shinhwa, Rain, K-Pop concert and the latest FTI gig in June 2009 - which was very very successful^^. I envy the fans who attended the fanmeet & the showcase.

I even got to shake hands with Kyu Jong at the airport!!!(~lucky day~)
The fanmeeting was teribble...
I mean maybe its because of the lack of time...
the securities were harsh to the fans...
I couldn't enter the fanmeeting because they said SS501 had left..(they were lying to us)
But managed to get one autographed album...(went and begged a girl to sell me one of the signatured albums)
I got Hyung Joon's signature....
Sad cos the organizers gave the boys "WHITE BOARD MARKER" to sign!!!
now my signature is like half gone...
seriously,Warner Music Malaysia and the organizers need to take a lesson...
Lol, that whiteboard marker comment is funny... You gotta be really careful then or cello tape it or something...

Haven't they heard of permanent markers? Tsk tsk tsk, the organisers should have bought some permanent markers from the 1U shopping mall nearby.
Poor fans...all that effort for signatures that smudge off.
that whiteboard markers totally a mistake! my Young Saeng's siggy still in good condition but i need to find a clear spray so it can be permanent...

I had no idea!! My JungMin's sig is still okay, though. Except that it was already a little smudged by him during the signing. I really have a lot to say about the organizers, ok. They're so harsh and the male emcee was annoying. They didn't even care for the fans outside and totally rude to the fans inside the signing area.
But I'm still happy I got to attend it at all!! Hehehe~ I hope more Kpop bands will come to Malaysia instead of landing in neighbouring countries only! ^^

i heard that actually originally the boys were given a gold metallic marker each one but they decided to change the marker coz it wasn't clear! i don't know what it means but they should just stick with that marker! so the hotel staffs have to rush to replace the marker & they end up gave whiteboard markers! only Hyun Joong's marker was a permanent!!!
OneU is just like 5 minutes walk from the hotel, why can't they rush to buy 5 markers??? and to those siggy who is still in good condition like me but has to be careful, get a 'clear spray' @ any artshop! it will make the siggy permanent!
ps: nex time, we should bring our own marker, incase this stuff gonna happen again!
NO, not those who bought album only dissapointed. I MYSELF I BOUGHT ALBUM but cant get in because the boys left early, it was my worst nightmare ):
neway, Warner Music apologised for all the inconvenience... it was a rush event with only one day preparation & i think they never expected the crowd will be a lot since it was during working day!
just hope, they learn something from this! and, the fans should be more disciplined! LOL~~~

Hey, i went to the fan meeting. and yeah, stupid white board markers -.- Jung min's signature on my album smudged a little. but then he blew it a few times. hahaha. so kind of him :)
woo..ss501 in malaysia!..hmm..is it true super junior will come to malaysia this year? december? tell me~
omg! i din even kno they came to KK! what a missed! TT ahh.. it just that so rare korean bands would come to Sabah. =(
