Joo Ji-hoon to enlist in the military on Feb 2

Joo Ji-hoon, who was involved in a nasty drug scandal in 2009, will pack his bags for national duty come Feb 2.

Off to camp: Joo Ji-hoon is set to become a soldier

The model turned actor will be serving his compulsory 2 years in the South Korean army. The 28 year old will first undergo 5 weeks of basic training before joining the army proper.

Joo pleaded guilty to using Ecstasy and Ketamine last year. His punishment was a 6-month jail sentence, a one-year probation, 120 hours of community service and a fine of 360,000 won (RM 1,071).

This means that while he serves out his one-year probation, Joo gets to avoid going to the slammer. And if the talent doesn’t commit any more crimes, the offense is cleared and he doesn’t have to go to jail...at all.

I’m sure enlisting into the armed forces will further keep the actor out of trouble. All the best Joo Ji-hoon!
